A non-refundable jury fee of $30 is required for each entry form/category submitted.

JURY BEGINS: January  21, 2014

Each artist is scored by jury members on a scale of yes-no-maybe in the first round, creating a ranked group of artists in each category deemed qualified to advance to the second round. Our scoring for the second round is on a 1 - 7 scale. The top scorers in each category receive an invitation to the show.  An additional number of artists will be retained for a waiting list of alternates and based upon the scores received in their category.

NOTIFICATION: January 27, 2014
Upon completion of the jury process, we will send an email by the end of the day on January 27 to all artists letting them know of their status. Contracts will also be emailed to invited artists.

BOOTH FEE DUE: February 14, 2014. Upon receipt of an acceptance letter or email, the selected artist is required to return a check or money order payable to City of Richardson for $425 to secure their booth space. All monies are deposited upon receipt. Booths should be purchased by check sent to Cottonwood.

CANCELLATION DEADLINE: Must be done in writing (email) by March 14, 2014 to receive a 50% back plus $25 administration fee.  No refunds after March 14 , 2014.

Electricity is limited and on a first-come first-serve basis and must be sent with booth fee.

  • Artists are provided with approximately a 13' x 13' space, depending on the location of your booth.
  • Booth assignments are made at the discretion of the Festival Director.
  • Photo ID is required at time of check-in.
  • Booth Numbers will be available on Cottonwood's Website by mid-April.
  • You have one hour to unload your vehicle. You then need to move your vehicle to designated parking lot and set-up at your leisure.
  • If you are not arriving until Saturday morning, you must be unloaded and set-up by 9:00 a.m.

    All vehicles must be park in the designated parking lot, across the street from the festival. You may not park anywhere near the festival grounds. For your convenience, there will be two shuttle buses running both days. No RV’s, unhitched trailers or artist vehicles of any kind are allowed to park in the festival parking lot.  Artists will receive more information about parking in your Artist Information Guide.
The following policies and rules have been established by Cottonwood Art Festival to ensure quality and integrity of the show.
  • The Festival is open to all applying Artists.
  • Exhibition in previous Festivals does not guarantee acceptance.
  • A picture ID is required at artist check-in by all participating artists, including partners. In addition, the Festival reserves the right to check ID each day of the Festival to ensure the artist is present.
  • All artists must be present on site during the entire festival. No spouses or other representatives will be permitted in place of the artist.
  • All artists MUST wear their artist ID badge, provided at check-in, during set-up and throughout show.
  • All work exhibited must be original art produced by the exhibiting artist(s). Work done by a Production studio, in classes or workshops, “Buy-sell” and/or imports, work from kits, commercial designs, and derivative work is prohibited. Artists selling work that is not their own will be removed from the festival with no refund.
  • Artists may only exhibit work in the medium(s) in which they are accepted (juried).
  • The jury committee or festival staff reserves the right to refuse exhibition of work that is not consistent with the submitted images and the rules listed above. Failure to comply will result in immediate removal from the festival with no refund.
  • Only limited edition, signed, and numbered reproductions of artworks are allowed. Artist must define“limited edition” through their Artist Statement and must disclose their process to the buyer. Originalart must occupy more than 50% of the applicant’s booth space. In the case of photographers andprintmakers, this means gallery quality framed work.
  •  Only those artists accepted in the jewelry category may display or sell jewelry. All jewelry, whether produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, or other materials must apply in jewelry category.
  • All work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry andpapermaking. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production are permitted. No factory produced wearable items, regardless of additional modification or enhancementby the artist, may be exhibited.
  • Ceramic works must be handmade by the artist. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed,each must be signed.
  • Photographers must print their own photography or be involved in and supervise the printing process.
  • Artists may not sell promotional items such as postcards, notecards, calendars, t-shirts or photocopy and/or offset reproductions of any kind.
  • Booth and display must remain intact during all hours of the show.
  • Artists must comply with all safety requirements, and vehicles must be parked only in designated areas. Noncompliance will result in elimination from consideration for any future festivals.
  • Artists are responsible for proper insurance and protection of work and setup. The City of Richardson or Cottonwood Art Festival will not be responsible for damage to work or setup for any reason. All artists are encouraged to maintain insurance.
  • Artists are responsible for collecting and reporting all taxes for all sales made during the show and reports them as being sold in Richardson, Texas. Texas Sales Tax ID # is required for ALL participating artists.
  • All artists must have turned in a Participation Agreement with Sales Tax # and a copy of pictured driver license before the show. Participation Agreement was emailed at time of acceptance or is also available at www.cottonwoodartfestival.com click on Artists Info.
  • A Texas sales tax ID number is required for participating artists. Artist is responsible for the payment of all applicable taxes and report earnings in Richardson, TX.  If you need to request a Texas sales tax ID, please go to www.window.state.tx.us/taxpermit.
