General Information
On Saturday, December 21st, 2013, Cleveland Handmade Markets and The Screw Factory Artists, together with the gracious cooperation of the Lake Erie Building owners and staff, will once again enable (and even encourage!) holiday shopping procrastination with the 6th annual Last Minute Market & Screw Factory Open Studio.

The Last Minute Market is a delightfully unique, one-day shopping destination with more than 85 artists and craftspeople. It is a celebration of creative, independent, small businesses, and giftable art and craft.

In addition, artists whose studios are in the building will open their doors to offer a peek at their workspace and an opportunity to purchase their work. The Umami Moto food truck will also be on hand to keep guests fueled for shopping.

The event is held at the Lake Erie Building, a massive, historic building in Lakewood, an inner-ring suburb on the west side of Cleveland. Built in the early 1900s by the Templar Motors Company, it now houses a diverse group of industrial businesses and artists' studios. It is affectionately called "The Screw Factory" and fasteners of all types are still manufactured there on the first floor.

This application must be complete and your application fee received by August 31st, 2013 to be considered. No late applications will be taken.

Day of Show
Load-in will begin at 7am on the morning of the show. The Market will begin at 10am and remain open until 6pm. Tear-down and load-out begins at 6pm and should be complete before 8pm. Elevators will be available during load-in and load-out (unless there are circumstances beyond our control) for all floors.

*Setting-up the day before the show, as well as loading-out the day after the show, may be available. A separate fee for either would be charged if this was offered. Please indicate your interest in the question portion of this application.*

Space Sharing
New this year, spaces may NOT be shared. There will be a variety of space sizes and costs available which will be similar to the size of past shared spaces.

Sellers will be responsible for all of their sales and remittance of applicable Cuyahoga county sales tax. Sellers should be ready with change for cash sales and credit card acceptance devices if desired. Wi-Fi is not available in the building, so wireless devices will need to be able to use cellular networks (3G or 4G, for example).
All work for sale should be priced and marked ahead of time.
No commission is taken on sales at the show.

If inclement weather or another unpredictable event forces us to cancel the Market, we cannot offer any refunds. If your application is accepted and you have made your space fee payment but need to cancel your participation in the Market, you must contact Eileen Segura (Eileen@ClevelandHandmade.com or 216 220 7785) by November 15th,
2013. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER NOVEMBER 15th, 2013. After November 15th, 2013, we will work with you to our best ability to sell your space to someone on the waiting list, but we cannot guarantee that it will be possible.

Our Pledge to You
The Last Minute Market began as an experiment with a couple dozen friends and grew exponentially from there. We have been beyond lucky to partner with other artist organizations and the amazingly thoughtful and supportive owners and crew of the Lake Erie Building.
We cannot guarantee the weather, the attendance, or the sales you'd have on the day of the show or that we'll even be able to offer you an invitation to exhibit, but we can guarantee that our priority is giving you the most considerate and responsive experience we can. Your application is truly appreciated, no matter the outcome. We know how it feels to be on both ends of this process and we promise to treat you with respect the whole way through. We don't discuss your application with anyone outside the selection committee. We won't complain about a mistake you make or a criticism you have. We will be patient and honest with you. We won't forget that you are our customer, and that you should be afforded every courtesy possible. Our efforts sometimes fail, and often succeed, but they are always focused on the sellers having a good show. We learn every year, and we're grateful to have the chance to improve. Thank you for considering our Market.

Markets, LLC, as well as their employees and associates, for any loss or damage to your property or for any personal injury. This includes your vehicle. By applying and/or participating in this event you

Seller Rules & Guidelines
We are looking for well-made, modern art and craft. The more from-scratch, the better.
We are also looking for a few makers of edible items. Edible item sellers will need to be approved by the county health inspector if invited and all needed permits must be current.

The maker of the items displayed must be present at the Market. The selection committee will score applications based on many factors including the quality of work, creativity, originality, and professionalism, while making sure there will be a variety of styles, media, and price-points presented at the Market which fit with the overall aesthetic of the event. The number of sellers exhibiting in each category will be limited to ensure a balanced show.
Our selection committee members, and our Market guests, respond to attractive, focused displays. Sellers should apply in one medium category and, if invited, should present work consistent with their application.
Past participation does not guarantee an invitation to exhibit. Conversely, past applicants who were not invited to participate should not assume the same will be true this year. Usually, about half of the sellers are return participants.
You can see a list of past sellers on the event's website.
A waiting list for each category will be chosen from the applications received. We try to fill any absence from the same category. The waiting list will ONLY be chosen from applications received before the deadline.
