We want you to join us at the 39th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival, April 21-23, 2017!

Show venue is completely indoors (Lubbock Memorial Civic Center) with air conditioning, and indoor plumbing (no porta potties for our artists). Lubbock is a college town with a medical and law school. Friendly people, well organized. Other great shows in Texas before and following the Lubbock Arts Festival.


Artists who are accepted to the 2017 event will receive an invitation to participate in the 40th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival, April 13-15, 2018!

General Information

Why should you bring your artwork to Lubbock?

Because we are the home of Buddy Holly, Mac Davis, Waylon Jennings, Joe Ely, Glenna Goodacre, Eddie Dixon, Jaston Williams, Barry Corbin, Susan Graham, and Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks! Pretty cool, huh?

In addition to that interesting piece of info, Lubbock has a population of 230,000 and serves as the regional education and medical 'hub' for West Texas. In fact, we have three major universities in Lubbock; the largest of which, Texas Tech University, has undergraduate/graduate programs, a law school AND medical school. We have also been selected as "100 Best Communities for Young People" by ING.

You can "Tour Texas." There are plenty of other great shows around the time of the Lubbock Arts Festival. So spend some time in the Lone Star state and enjoy the bluebonnets of the Hill Country along the way!

You can "BEAT THE HEAT." The Lubbock Arts Festival is 100% indoors. YEP, you read that right . . .our event is held in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center which has AIR CONDITIONING and NO porta potties (only indoor plumbing for our artists)!! We also let you pull up and unload right at the back door of the Civic Center - heck, we will even let you park right next to the Civic Center in a reserved lot for the duration of the show.

Artists like us. Why? Aside from our witty prose, we bring people through the doors and provide artist perks such as lunch on Saturday; private hospitality room; event security that stays overnight; discounted rates at our host hotel; and $50,000 worth of advertising (we have even won a marketing award from the Texas Festivals and Events Association for our event program). Most of all, and most importantly, we are just really nice people who want you to be successful!

EVENT DETAILS (The usual PR stuff):

The 39th Annual Lubbock Arts Festival will be held April 21-23, 2017 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane, Lubbock, Texas.

This event is the largest fine art, fine craft event in West Texas. Over 10,000 people attended the 2016 Lubbock Arts Festival.

Booth artists enjoy a 100% indoor, air conditioned venue. No commission is charged, only a flat booth rate. The $50,000 advertising campaign for the event includes print, radio, television, billboards, and electronic media.

Creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for visiting artists is one of our specialties. The Lubbock Arts Festival features a private artists’ hospitality area and volunteer booth sitters as well as other amenities.

The Lubbock Arts Festival is produced by the Lubbock Arts Alliance, Inc., a not-for-profit arts agency dedicated to fostering the creation, enjoyment and understanding of the arts. Proceeds from the Festival provide funding for year-round educational and community programs.

Friday, Premiere Night 6 pm - 9 pm
Saturday, 10 am - 7 pm
Sunday, 12 pm - 5 pm

Artist Amenities:
Artist amenities include volunteer booth sitters, access to a private hospitality area stocked with refreshments, dinner on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday. Other amenities: host hotel with special rate, twenty-four hour security, free parking, and wireless internet.

Admission:
All adult festival goers will be admitted for $4 and all children age 12 and under, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted for FREE.

 

Rules/Regulations

General Entry Information:

All artwork must be the original, handmade work of the artist and produced within 18 months of the 2016 Festival. Reproduced prints may not constitute more than 50% of the displayed work. Media using endangered animals or plants and t-shirts are specifically excluded. Works produced from other sources and commercial patterns or kits are ineligible. All resale items are ineligible for this show.

An on-site standards committee will be present to enforce eligibility policies. Artists who are found in violation of these restrictions will be required to remove those items from their booths.

The Lubbock Arts Festival reserves the right to close the booth of any artist who
refuses to adhere to the regulations set forth in this prospectus.

The Lubbock Arts Festival is juried for a general audience and reserves the right to remove any work deemed unsuitable by Festival officials.

The Festival reserves the right to photograph, for promotional purposes only, any artwork or participants in the Lubbock Arts Festival.

​The Festival reserves the right to conduct multiple calls for entry until event is sold out.

Booth Information

Booth Fees:

$375- 10' x 10' Pipe & Drape. Electricity provided.

$700 - 10' x 20' Pipe & Drape. Electricity provided.

Set-Up Times:

Thursday, April 20, 2017 from Noon - 7PM

Friday, April 21, 2017 from Noon-4PM (must have work physically  into building, but can continue to set-up until Premiere Night at 6PM)
