May Fair Arts Festival is a program of Assistance League® of Norman and is their gift to the community, now in it’s 44th year. Assistance League is a nonprofit organization serving the Norman community by giving time & financial support to a variety of philanthropic programs to help improve our community and the people in it. During 2015, chapter members provided more than 13,000 hours of volunteer service. 

 


General Information
  • Entries must be received by April 21, 2017.

  • A nonrefundable $25 application fee must accompany each entry.

  • Late entries will be charged $200 plus the $25 nonrefundable application fee and will be processed only if space is available. Late entries begin April 22, 2017.

Notification of acceptance will be given within two weeks after applying. Acceptance is a commitment to show. No refunds will be given after April 15. If you are not accepted, your entry fee will be refunded.
All checks will be deposited upon acceptance to the show.

The May Fair 5k is held on Saturday morning at 8:30. In its fifth year the race begins and ends at Andrew’s Park with many of the runners staying after to enjoy May Fair. 



Rules/Regulations

Works Not Acceptable

May Fair Arts Festival is a family-oriented show for spectators of all ages. Appropriateness and professional appearance of the product and exhibit booth will be considered. All work must be original and handcrafted; no commercial molds. You must display only work in the primary contracted media, as illustrated in your slides or photos. May Fair Arts Festival reserve the right to make final interpretation of all rules, including the right to ask an exhibitor to leave or remove art that does not meet criteria of the rules. Booths will be checked for compliance with Festival rules.

Judging & Awards

Judging will take place during the morning of May Fair on Saturday. All prizes will be awarded show wide. Best in Show will be awarded $500 followed by 1st. 2nd and 3rd place awards of $300, $200 and $100 respectively. Additional awards may be given at the discretion of the May Fair Arts Festival committee or judges. Ribbons will be presented for additional honors as determined by qualified judge. Crafts are not included in judging for ribbons or for cash awards.

  • Hours are Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 11am to 5pm. 



Booth Information
  1. Exhibit Space

    An approximate 12’ x 12’ space will be provided. White tents are preferred for every exhibitor and easy up tents are discouraged! Artists may share booth space only by special request at the time of application for an additional fee of $50. Extra space requires an additional $50 fee. Artists and exhibitors must provide their own tents, panels, display units, materials, tables, chairs, cover, drop cords, electrical cords, etc. Limited electricity is available for fine arts exhibitors only and must be requested at the time of application. There will be a $40 fee for electricity hook up per space.

    Set up and Take Down

    Artists may begin setting up on Friday, May 5, 2017 9am - 6pm. Every effort will be made for artists to unload and load at or near their assigned booth space during set up and take down times. Due to the park configuration, there will be a time limit for vehicles to be parked near the assigned booth space during set up and take down; vehicles will not be allowed in the park during festival hours. Artist parking is provided. Booths must be manned at all times during Festival hours. Volunteers will be available for breaks. No early take down or dismantling will be allowed.

    Sales and Tax

    The May Fair Arts Festival does not currently take commission from artist exhibitor sales. All purchases will be made directly with the artist. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to comply with the appropriate tax laws for Oklahoma. ALN is required to collect sales tax from each artist and vendor that does not have an Oklahoma Tax ID number. For artists with an Oklahoma Tax ID, filing will be done as in the past with the state of Oklahoma. Forms and information concerning taxes will be sent at time of acceptance.

    Security & Weather

    On-site security is provided during festival hours and overnight. This is an outdoor event in a park. Spring weather in Oklahoma is beautiful but can be unpredictable. In the event of inclement weather, please make sure your tent and display are able to withstand wind and rain and that your work is protected accordingly. No refunds due to weather. Cancellation due to weather is at the sole discretion of May Fair Arts Festival.
