Event Summary
This show is produced with the aim of providing an exposition of high quality arts and crafts by national artists and craftspersons, to benefit the Museum of the Southwest. Annual attendance 10,000.  Best in Show wins $1000. The 2017 event will mark our 48th successful year!

General Information
SEPTEMBERFEST HAS PROUDLY BEEN A SHOWCASE FOR ARTISTS AND CRAFTSPEOPLE FOR 48 SUCCESSFUL YEARS!

ELIGIBILITY
The event is open to individual artists and craftspersons presenting their own individual work. No galleries, studios, agents or anyone representing an artist will be eligible. No artist will be admitted whose work has not been reviewed and approved by the artist selection committee. Artists should not display any work not submitted for jurying.

LOCATION
Midland is located midway between Dallas/Ft. Worth and El Paso along Interstate 20 in West Texas. Founded on ranching and the oil business, this highly educated, culturally diverse community boasts several museums, a civic center, symphony orchestra and a community theatre. Septemberfest is a well supported community event. Together, Midland and the neighboring city of Odessa serve an area of over 250,000 people known as the "Petroplex." We invite you to experience our West Texas hospitality. Midland was recently ranked as the highest per capita personal income in the United States.

BOOTH INFORMATION
The show is held outdoors on the grounds of the Museum of the Southwest. You will be assigned a 10x10 booth space. ARTISTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TENTS AND LIGHTS and are responsible for set-up and display. Booth fees are:  Single booths $300.00. Double booths are $550.00. Shared space is $200.00 per artist. Single corner booths are $325.00. Double corner booths are $575.00. Collection of sales tax is the responsibility of the artist. Displays may not extend more than two feet from the booth. Security is provided continuously 24 hours a day.

STANDARDS
Artists must be present to show their own work.
NOT ALLOWED: Manufactured items or supplies and kits.
PRINTS: Must be limited edition, signed and numbered by the artist. No photographic reproductions will be considered original artwork. They must be clearly labeled as reproductions and represent no more than 20% of the artist's inventory.

Ceramics: Wheel-thrown or hand-built only. No molded ceramics.

Jewelry and Metal-Smith: Designed and handmade by applicant only. Cast pieces must be of limited edition.

Leather:One-of-a-kind items individually created by the applicant. No machine-tooled, machine-screened patterns, or miscellaneous forms of mass production allowed. A simple buckle is allowed or one handmade by the craftsperson. No ornamental, mass produced belt buckles are allowed.

Photography: Black and white process by applicant only, including developing and printing from own original negative; color process by applicant or under applicant's supervision by a service with a reputation of "museum quality" standards. No mass produced commercial prints.

Fiber: All clothing, toys, purses, etc. must be handmade. No commercially manufactured goods will be accepted, even if they are hand painted.

Painting:
Paintings must be original one-of-a-kind, framed or finished works. Reproductions, including giclees must be clearly labled as reproductions and must represent no more than 20% of the artist's inventory.

SELECTIONS
Selection by jury is based on quality of work. The jury will consist of a panel of art professionals. Artists with the highest average ratings in each category will be accepted. Work brought to Septemberfest will be reviewed before and during the show to verify that it is the type and caliber represented in the visuals judged by the artist selection committee. Artists violating the rules of this show will become ineligible for readmission to future shows. The Septemberfest committee reserves the right to remove any artwork judged not in the best interest of the show.

NOTIFICATION
Artists will be notified of acceptance, rejection, or standby status no later than August 2, 2016. Artists who do not show and do not cancel 30 days before the show will not be reinvited or refunded. Written cancellations must be received on or before August 9, 2016 to receive refunds.

AUCTION
Each artist accepted by Septemberfest is required to give a piece of his/her work (originals only - minimum value of $100) to the Silent Auction. Works are to be presented by the artist to Septemberfest representatives UPON ARRIVAL before a booth assignment will be made. Artists' works are offered to the public in a Silent Auction, with proceeds going to the Museum of the Southwest.

PREVIEW PARTY
Septemberfest presents a gala Friday night preview for sponsors and patrons. The booth fee includes artists' participation Friday night, as well as Saturday and Sunday. Gala passes are issued as follows: a shared booth receives one pass per artist(no guests). Single booths receive 2 passes(one for the artist and one guest). Double booths receive 3 passes.
