Event Summary
Florida CraftArt presents the 20th Annual CraftArt Festival 2017  
Saturday, November 18, 2017, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday, November 19, 2017, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

CraftArt Festival 2017 is a juried contemporary craft festival in its 20th year that attracts more than 10,000 visitors each year. Purchase Awards are sold in advance to collectors. With over 110 exhibiting artists, the show also features artist demonstrations, glass blowing, children's art activites, craft beer, wine and food trucks. The CraftArt Festival 2017 is in the heart of the Central Arts District in downtown St. Petersburg, the #1 arts destination for a mid-sized city in the USA. The festival is marketed extensively locally, regionally and nationally through print and web ads, social media, radio and digital billboards.   
 

General Information
ELIGIBILITY:
The CraftArt Festival 2017 features over 100 juried fine craft artists. ‘Fine craft art’ is defined as quality original artwork created by the artist in the mediums of clay, fiber, glass, metal, jewelry, mixed media and wood. Paintings, drawings, photography and/or commercially-made works are not eligible.

JUROR: Perry Price, Executive Director, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.

AWARDS:
$10,000 in awards will be selected by the juror and awarded based on the quality of the artist’s body of work regardless of media. Pledged Collector’s Choice Purchase Awards will be distributed during the CraftArt Festival 2017. Final decisions concerning awards are at the sole discretion of the juror:

• One (1) $3,000 Best of Show
• Four (4) $1,000 Awards of Excellence
• Six (6) $500 Awards of Merit.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Each applicant must submit 4 images for consideration (3 of work, 1 of booth), a nonrefundable jury fee of $35 and application form.
Final entry deadline must be received by September 5, 2017. Notification of acceptance will be sent the week of September 11th, 2017. If entering in more than one craft medium, applicant must submit separate application, fees, and images. Only work in the defined fine craft medium(s) will be considered – clay, fiber, glass, metal, jewelry, mixed media and wood.
All work MUST be original and of the exhibitor’s own creation. NO buy/sell. No commercial or imported items, items made from kits, greenware or mass-produced items. Any person exhibiting arts/crafts that have any resemblance to such items will be subject to dismissal from the show.

IMAGES: 4 (3 of work, 1 of booth)
Four (4) images are to be submitted for each individual media category entered by the artist. Three (3) images must be of individual pieces of work. Image #4 must be a booth image showing overall continuity and presentation of your current body of work. The purpose of the booth image is to ensure the artist has a complete body of work which is represented both in the first three images and also within image #4. It also helps identify the scale of the artist's work. If possible, please avoid submitting booth images with any identifiable sign, or photo of the artist themselves. Images must accurately represent the body of the artist's work to be exhibited at the Festival.

** CraftArt Festival 2016 Award winners are exempt from the $35 jury fee and will receive a coupon code via email from the show coordinator to use in the application process. They MUST submit an application and images.

8-foot table & 2 chairs - $40


DEADLINES AND NOTIFICATIONS:

Notifications – emailed the week of September 11, 2017 and posted on individual artist applications on

Booth fees due by October 9, 2017
Booth cancellations must be received before October 31, 2017, no refunds will be issued after this date.
Set-up date – Friday, November 17, 2017, 3-7 p.m.
Show dates – November 18 & 19, 2017

BOOTH FEES: will be accepted by credit card through Zapplication or via check sent directly to Florida CraftArt. Checks must be received no later than October 9, 2017. Please make all money orders or checks payable to Florida CraftArt. There will be a $50 charge for any returned check.

YOUR BOOTH:
• A card bearing artist’s name, booth number and city of residence will be provided and must be prominently
     displayed at each booth.
• Booth spaces may not be shared.
• In an effort to keep the show as “fresh” and evenly distributed by media as possible, booth assignments are
       at the sole discretion of the CraftArt Festival 2017 Committee.
• Each artist must provide an appropriate and substantial display fit for outdoor exhibition.
• Note: Tent rental is available. Payment must be submitted with booth payment.
• Electricity is NOT available, generator use is not permitted.
• Overnight security is provided during the weekend, but neither Florida CraftArt, the City of St. Petersburg
     or CraftArt Sponsors will assume responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen items.
• Artists must be present with their work the weekend of the CraftArt Festival 2017. No artist representatives
    or substitutes are permitted.

SALES TAX:
Each artist is responsible for collecting Pinellas Sales Tax (7%), and remitting it to the Florida Department of Revenue, Tallahassee, Florida. (Call 1-800-352-3671 for additional sales tax information.)

ARTIST AMENITIES:
• Overnight security
• Vehicle loading and unloading at booth space
• Continental breakfast Saturday & Sunday
• Booth sitters
• Discount rates at area hotels
• Artist Awards Reception Saturday evening
