Event Summary

The Spicewood Arts Society is sponsoring Arts Round-Up 2017, a juried fine art festival, on October 28 - 29, 2017 in Spicewood, Texas.

This is the fourteenth year for the Arts Round-Up and it has become a popular show with artists and guests alike. The fine art festival will be held on the grounds of LaCabana Grill which is located on Texas State Hwy 71. The beautiful oak grove has picnic tables, attractive plantings, a water fountain, a children's play area, a covered outdoor food service area and of course the restaurant itself. Spicewood is a rapidly growing area situated just west of Austin and conveniently central to Johnson City, Marble Falls, Lakeway, and Bee Caves. In addition to its easy access from the very busy Hwy 71, this location is very near to large and growing upscale housing areas.

Central Texas artists working in all 2D and 3D media are encouraged to apply for this very cost effective show. Spicewood Arts Society is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the visual, performing and literary arts in the Spicewood Community. FEES
   Application Processing Fee: $25.00
   BOOTH FEES (Due upon acceptance):
  10x10 Booth fee ...$140 (no electricity), $145 (with electricity)
   10x20 Booth fee ...$275 (includes electricity)
   There are no commissions or other fees.
Donations of art work will be accepted for auction at our annual fund raiser to support scholarships for students pursuing college education in the visual, performing or literary arts. Donations are entirely voluntary. If you choose to donate, the piece or pieces should have a retail value of at least $100.
   Refunds will not be granted after September 15, 2017. Refunds minus a $10 processing fee will be charged for withdrawal before midnight September 15, 2017.

   All communications and notifications will be by email.
REQUIREMENTS:
  Applications: All applications will be processed through Zapplication.org web site.
  Images: 4 images of representative work plus a booth shot; 5 images total.
  All art must be conceived and produced by the artist. Manufactured, commercial, imported or kit work will NOT be accepted.
  Multiple categories: Artists wishing to exhibit work produced in more than one media category must apply separately to each category, with a different set of digital images and a jury fee for each category. Only one application may be submitted per body of work represented. Multiple applications must represent either work in different media categories or distinctly separate bodies of work within one category.
  The artist must be present on site for the entire festival. No agents, dealers, wholesalers or representatives are allowed to attend in place of an artist.
  Sales Tax: Valid Texas Sales and Use Tax certificate. Artists must collect and pay appropriate state and local sales tax.
  Tents: Artists must provide their own white 10'x10' tents.
Other information:
  There is no rain date, and there are no refunds for any reason after September 15, 2017.
  Change is not available on-site. Vendors are required to handle their own cash.

LOCATION:
  The beautiful oak grove of the La Cabana Grill at 21103 Texas Hwy 71 has picnic tables, and sites for artist tents set along paths that wander through the grounds. This is located just 8 miles from Bee Caves and is central to Austin, Lakeway, Bee Caves, Marble Falls and Johnson City. There is easy access from Hwy 71 and there is ample free parking for guests. Spicewood is a fast growing community with active home development of new homes.
  Admission to the show is free, but we do encourage donations from guests to support the missions of the Spicewood Arts Society.
JURYING INFORMATION:
  Quality of work is the only consideration for the jury.
  Our jurors will be selecting high quality fine art that will appeal to a diverse audience. Jurors will view four images plus one booth display along with Artist Statements.
  Your booth or display image should reveal no names and have no people standing in it. If no booth image is available, artist may submit a showing of artworks on display as they will be shown during the show. Jurors will look for a high level of professionalism in such a group image.
  Applications will be reviewed on computer monitors and scored on a scale of 1-10 (worst to best). Each juror will independently review each application without discussion with other jurors until after scores are submitted. Jurors may ask questions of the show director prior to scoring if necessary.
  Some artists who have been accepted to previous Arts Round-Up shows may be accepted based on jurying during that show. Artists who have previously participated in the show will receive preference in the event of equivalent scores.
  Artists who live or produce their work in central Texas, roughly defined as within 200 miles of Spicewood, are preferred when scores are equivalent.
  In making final selections, we strive to keep a balance of art categories. For example we will not have 50% of the artists from the jewelry (or any other) category.
BOOTH INFORMATION
  Artist's must provide their own white tents; sand bags or other appropriate wind resistance is required as a safety precaution.
All of the booth sites are easily viewed by the attendees.
   
  Each booth space will be at least 10'x10'
ELECTRICITY
  There are a limited number of sites with electricity. No generators are allowed. Maximum is 500 watts per booth.
CHECK IN & SET UP
  Set up is between the hours of 9am and 6pm on Friday. Exhibitors can bring their vehicle to the parking lot to unload. It is not possible to drive to every tent site due to trees and other obstructions. Thus, a dolly or wagon is suggested.
  The ground is fairly level, but be prepared to level tables, and display racks.
BREAKDOWN
  Breakdown is not to begin until 4pm Sunday.
EXHIBITOR PARKING
  Exhibitors will be able to park for free within a few hundred yards of the site.
SECURITY
  Security officers will be present during the evening hours (8pm until 8am), Friday and Saturday. You are encouraged to arrive both festival days by 8am to further secure your booth. Spicewood Arts Society, the property owner, and the Festival Directors are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  Overnight security will deter interference with your booth and artworks but is not guaranteed to prevent theft or vandalism.
  Please report any problems, but festival organizers cannot be held responsible.
PETS
  Please do not bring pets. They're cute as can be, but there can be problems ...!
ART CATEGORIES
  Ceramics: All original clay and porcelain work other than jewelry is accepted in this category. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed each piece must be signed.
  Digital Art: The original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using a computer. Traditional photographs taken through a digital process should apply in the photography category.
  Drawing/Dry media: includes chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax crayon, etc. or inks and washes applied by pen. Reproductions are allowed and must be of the Artists original work.
  Fiber: work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry and papermaking. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production are permitted. No factory produced wearable items, regardless of additional modification or enhancement by the artist, may be exhibited
  Glass: No forms of mass production are permitted. If the predominance of work is jewelry, please apply in that category.
  Graphics and Printmaking: Printed works from the artist's hand-manipulated the plates, stones or screens and signed and numbered.
  Jewelry: No commercial casts, molds or production studio work is allowed.
  Metalworks: Non-sculptural, non-jewelry works crafted from metals.
  Mixed Media: 2D or 3D, incorporating more than one type of physical material.
  Painting: Oils, acrylics, watercolor. Giclees are permitted and must be hand signed by the artist.
  Paper: Original artworks made from hand made paper. Handles and bases may be manufactured but may not comprise more than 25% of the artwork.
  Photography: Photographic prints made from the artist's original image, processed by the artist. Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing processes.
  Sculpture: Three-dimensional original work done in any medium.
  Wearable Art: Original works that are made by hand.
  Wood: Original works in wood that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved are accepted in the wood category.
