Event Summary
Art in the Sun 2018--The 30th Annual Juried Fine Arts Festival in Northville, Michigan, June 23-24, 2018. Art in the Sun is the visual arts component of Arts and Acts, an exciting and vibrant annual celebration of the Arts in Southeast Michigan. Located in Northville, an affluent and picturesque enclave twenty minutes from Ann Arbor, Arts and Acts attracts a crowd truly interested in art.

NEW FOR 2018-- Art in the Sun is changing locations and dates! Based on artist feedback, Art in the Sun is now a 2 day festival and will be located in Millennium Park - just minutes from Downtown Northville. Surrounded by beautiful neighborhoods and across the street from Northville High School, Millennium Park provides an idylic location for this festival. Increased space, near well developed neighborhoods, and located next to the successful Tapped in the Ville craft beer festival (Saturday, June 23, 2018), old and new faces will join us in celebrating the arts. 

General Information
Art in the Sun is the visual arts component of Arts and Acts, an exciting and vibrant annual celebration of the Arts in Southeast Michigan. Located in Northville, an affluent and picturesque enclave twenty minutes from Ann Arbor, Arts and Acts attracts a crowd truly interested in art. 

The overall Arts and Acts celebration includes the Art in the Sun Juried Fine Arts Festival, music from top Detroit-area acts throughout the weekend, a maker's fair - seperate from Art in the Sun, the 4th annual Northville Art House Chalk Festival, a variety of Food Trucks, and children's activities. Nestled on the lawn of beautiful Millennium Park, Art in the Sun will be a gorgous and exciting event. 

Show hours are Saturday June 23, 10-8; Sunday, June 24, 10-5.

We welcome artists in all media and categories. All work must be original--NO imports, kits, items made from kits or items using pre-manufactured components are allowed. All reproductions must be signed and numbered in editions of no more than 750.  All reproductions must be labeled as such.  Artists are REQUIRED to be at the show during all hours it is open to the public. Artist demonstrations are encouraged!

Monetary prizes will be awarded for Best of Show ($750), First Place ($500) and Second Place ($250). Honorable mentions will also be awarded.  Awards will be based on original art work and booth presentation. Monetary prizes will total up to $2000.

Booth spaces are 10' x 10'. Booth fees are $300 each (for two days).  A limited amount of double booth spaces are available for $600 for a 20' x 10' space.  

Application deadline is April 8, 2018. Artists will be notified by April 14, 2018.

The acceptance deadline (and booth payment deadline) is May 5, 2018.

 - Unlimited Bottled Water
 - Volunteers available throughout the festival.
 - Free overnight parking within walking distance of the festival.
 - An Artist Brunch on Sunday morning.
 - A picturesque park as a backdrop located halfway between Ann Arbor and Detroit.

Due to the change in location, we are no longer able to provide electricity. We appologize for the inconvenience. 

Art in the Sun is a fundraiser for the Northville Art House, a non profit community art center located in Downtown Northville. Rules/Regulations
The Jury Fee is non refundable.  The acceptance deadline is May 5, 2018.  Cancellations prior to May 19th must be made in writing by either fax or email.  Cancellations made prior to May 19th  will recieve a 50% refund on the artist booth fee.  No refunds will be given after SATURDAY, MAY 19th, 2018.    

All work must be original--NO imports, kits, items made from kits or items using pre-manufactured components are allowed. Violators will be immediately dismissed with no refund.







 

Booth Information
Booth spaces are 10' x 10'. 

Set up will begin at 6:00 am on Saturday, June 23th 2018. We are looking into providing Friday afternoon/evening set up times as well. Final set up times will be announced closer to the event. 

Tents must be anchored with weights on all four corners and be able to withstand wind gusts. Due to the nature of the park, staking tents to the ground is not possible. Please ensure weights are heavy enough to withstand wind gusts.
