Event Summary
Please join midtownHOU on Sunday, February 11, 2018 in Baldwin Park  (1700 Elgin @ Chenevert) for a very special event, our 1st Annual Valentine’s Market. Come peruse the grounds of one of Houston’s oldest parks for that unique gift for that someone special in your life.  This boutique-style, outdoor, love-themed market features fine crafts, good food, art, unusual vendor items and inspired gifts for sale. Handcrafted by some of the area’s finest artisans. This is the perfect place to find that one of a kind food item or a unique gift for someone special.

We are looking for a handful of specially selected vendors, with superior product and excellent price points..

This event is coordinated and underwritten by the Midtown Cultural Arts & Entertainment District.

Our goals include:
•Producing a One of a Kind Valentine inspired event site. Complete with custom tents and decor!!
•Coordinating a well-organized market.
•Produce a good experience for both vendors and visitors.
•Provide a clean and well-maintained environment for vendors, artists and craftsmen to creatively market to a wide range of potential buyers.

General Information
This is a fine crafts, good foods, art festival with a distince Valentine theme– We are looking for the unique, handmade, wonderful items at superior price points that make the perfect gifts for men and women.
There is a $35 non-refundable fee per vendor/artist for each application.
We DO NOT collect a commission or percentage of sale. It is the vendor/artist responsibility to pay sales tax to the State of Texas in a timely manner.
It is the vendor/artist responsibility to identify the category (medium) for which they would like to participate. Please choose the single category that best describes your work/product. If you do not choose a category, your application will not be processed.
You may apply for more than one category. However there will be a $35 NON- REFUNDABLE application fee for each medium that you apply. For example, if you apply for photography and painting you will have a $35 non-refundable application fee for each medium and five required high resolution (suitable for digital use) images for each category that you apply. The jury may decide to accept the photography but not the painting. The vendor/artist will not be permitted to show the painting.
Please refrain from changing your email address after you have applied.
We may use your images to promote the event; please submit only high-resolution images of your work. 
Medium categories are used by this market as a tool for organizing images into logical, related groups for review. While a balanced market that equitably showcases both works of fine art and fine contemporary craft, food, home decor, unique items and assorted handmade items, as well as diversity among medium is a principal objective, there is no quota or entitlement by medium category. We will, however, reserve the right to limit certain mediums.
If your products are sustainable or repurposed let us know! That is important.

Bath/Spa and Body Products
Unique handmade or specialty bath and body products for both men and women. Soaps, lotions, bath oils, body scrubs etc. 
Clay Works
All original clay and porcelain work other than jewelry is accepted in this category. No machine-made or mass produced work is permitted. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed, each piece must be signed.
Digital Art
This category includes any original work for which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using a computer. Traditional photographs taken through a digital media should apply in the photography category.
Works created using dry media including chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax crayon, etc. or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush are to be entered in this category. A limited number of reproduction prints are allowed.
All work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry, quilting and papermaking. Handmade papers, handmade cards, handmade gift wrap, journals, hand painted or hand dyed linens. Silk screened fabrics and alike will be considered. Uniquely handmade clothing will be considered. Monogramed items too! Hand painted or hand crafted modifications are accepted.
Fine food items
Small-batch prepared foods suitable for sharing. Sweet and savory items will be considered. Chocolate dipped strawberries, cookies, macroon, candied nuts/fruits, jellies, salsas, food gift baskets etc. If you are interested in wine parings with your food offering let me know. Let's see what we can work out!!  Lovely Valentine themed packaging encouraged.
Small home furnishings for urban loft dwellers. How about something with hearts?
Gift baskets
Valentine inspired gift baskets. Wine baskets, sports baskets for him. Bath and body baskets for her or him! Be creative!!
Blown glass, fused glass, stained glass, dichroic glass, hand painted and alike are welcomed. How about hand painted martini, wine, beer or champagne glasses?

Home decor
Especially hand crafted Valentine inspired decor, ornaments, wreaths, floral decor, potpourri, candles and alike will be considered.

Only those artists accepted in the jewelry category may display or sell jewelry. No more than 10% of the show participants will be jewelry artists.  Due to the high volume of submissions, this is a highly competitive media.  Artists will be selected in regard to uniqueness of style, quality, and craftsmanship. All jewelry, whether the work is produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, or other materials, must be entered in this category. No commercial casts, molds or production studio work is allowed. The jewelry shown must be hand crafted by the artist. NO IMPORTS.
Includes all sculptural or decorative work made from metal, non-jewelry works crafted from metals. No production studio work is allowed.
Mixed Media 2D
This category includes two-dimensional works that incorporate more than one type of physical material to produce.
Mixed Media 3D
This category includes three-dimensional works that incorporate more than two types of physical material to produce. Includes non-sculptural work as determined by the artist.
Works created in oils, acrylics, watercolor, chalk, spray paint etc. are in this category.
Includes traditional film photography, hand colored images, emulsion transfers and digital photography. Original works which have been processed by that artist are included in this category. It is not necessary that prints be in limited editions, signed and numbered.
Printed works for which the artist's hand manipulated the plates, stones or screens may be entered in this category. It is not necessary that prints be in limited editions, signed and numbered.
Any type of three-dimensional original work done in any medium.
Any kind of unique toys for children. Especially those that are hand crafted will be considered
Wearable Items
Uniquely designed handmade wearable items will be considered. Embellished wearable items such as sneakers, clothing, handbags etc. will be considered.  Monogramed items too
Original works in wood that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved are accepted in the wood category.
Anything unusual and fun that doesn't fit anywhere else. Please describe your "other" in detail and send high resolution images. We are open to reviewing all products!

Please be present with your work for the event. Representatives may not attend in place of the vendor/artist. We are planning for many potential visitors; we strongly encourage you to bring an assistant for the day.
All work must be original, handcrafted work. NO IMPORTS, no wholesaling. Vendor/Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the works presented and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands.
Artists may only show work in categories and body of work selected to participate.  All work exhibited must be of the quality, category and body of work of that shown in the images.
Work done by a production studio is not acceptable. All work must be designed and executed by the accepted artist. Your exhibited art must be original and your own creation. No use of commercial kits or molds. Commercial reproductions are discouraged.  NO IMPORTS. .
33% of all two-dimensional work displayed must be original. Artists must define reproduction or limited edition throughout their artist's statement and disclose this information on the individual piece.  No personal promotional items are permitted.
Vendors/Artists who break down displays or depart before closing time of the Market will not be invited back for future shows unless proof of an emergency is presented.
Vendors/Artists who sell their entire body of work must remain with their booths for the duration of the show.
All Vendors/Artists are responsible for collecting and paying State of Texas sales tax.
No commission on sales will be paid to the Midtown Management District or Midtown Mistletoe Market. Vendors/Artists retain all revenue from the sale of their work.
This is a “family friendly” event.  Please keep that in mind when choosing items to share with the community.

We are a sustainable community - please consider that in your packaging. We will provide resuable Valentine Market bags for guests. Please bring wrapping/tape to protect items purchased. Our goal is to have our guests pruchase more than one item at the market. DO NOT use plastic grocery bags as packaging. Valentine wrap, bows etc are perfect for this market 

NO alcohol may be brought into the event site.  NO glass containers allowed. This is a No Smoking Park.

Any breach of the rules forfeits all rights of the vendor/artist, may result in immediate removal from the show without a refund.
All correspondence to the vendor/ artists selected will be electronic in nature. We cannot mail by US Post information to individuals.

This is an event specific destination market -
Because of that we are creating a certain style, look and feel for this event
We will be providing the complete setup - including the custom made red and white tents and the exterior Valentine decor which will be branded to this event

Your interior tent decor - please use anything red/white/pink/purple hearts and flowers. Please do not bring a Thanksgiving table cloth to a Valentine inspired event. Your interior decor  should be reflective of the event.

After you are accepted into the market you will be renting:
A white elasticized short table top cover. It doesn't go all the way to the ground. Bring a Valentine inspired table cover for a 6 ft table.
$125 for a single booth - 6 x 10 custom built for the event red/white tent, one (1) Samsonite style chairs and one (1) 6ft table  

Please note this a is 60 SF tent not the standard 100 SF. Be creative with your setup - use boxes, smaller tables and trays to create levels in your space. These will be professionally setup and waiting for you to show up and SET UP!
Pull up and setup - we will provide overnight security!

Refund Policy:
The $35 application fee is non-refundable.
Once you are accepted to participate by paying the applicable booth fee you have made a commitment to show and no refunds will be made. Accepted participants unable to attend must inform the coordinator.
We will provide for your comfort:
Port a Potties, Hand Washing Stations, First Aid, pull up and set up.
Overnight security will be provided

Part of being a selected vendor for Midtown Valentine's Market is participating in our social media. Your participation is our social media is a MUST! For your success we will provide event publicity. We also have an extensive print and online presence!  Use your social media to reach out to your patrons, neighbors, co-workers, church friends and Midtown. You will be provided social media blurbs, FB banners and hashtags - PLEASE USE THEM!  The Midtown demographic is 25-55 years of age, has a Smart phone, with a median income of $82K annually.
