JURY DETAILS Event Summary Midtown Art in the Park is held every April on the grounds of historic Elizabeth Baldwin Park in centrally located Midtown Houston. The area is known for its many attractions, including picturesque park spaces, long standing arts organizations, public art, and is a State of Texas designated Cultural Arts & Entertainment District.
For 2018, we are planning for approximately 5,000 visitors to join us in a beautiful wooded park just blocks away from transportation options and major freeways.
This event is coordinated and underwritten by the Midtown Cultural Arts & Entertainment District.

General Information This is a fine art festival – NO machine made, mass produced items will be accepted It is the artist's responsibility to identify the SINGLE category (medium) for which they would like to participate. Please choose the single category which best describes your work. If you do not choose a category your application will not be processed. Artists are required to be present with your work for the event. Representatives may not attend in place of the artist. This is a large event with many potential visitors we strongly encourage each artist to bring an assistant for the day. Please NOTE ALL deadlines are FIRM! We cannot extend application dates We cannot extend booth purchase dates This is a fine art festival – NO machine made, mass produced items will be accepted NO distributors allowed We DO NOT accept wearable items of any kind other than jewelry All work must be original, handcrafted work. NO IMPORTS, No wholesales, NO distributors, NO wearable items other than jewlery. Artist guarantees the accuracy of the description of the works presented and the authenticity of the work as the creation of their own hands. It is the artist's responsibility to identify the category for which they would like to participate. Please choose the category which best describes your work. If you do not choose a category (medium) your application will not be processed. Artists may only show work in categories and body of work selected to participate. All work exhibited must be of the quality, category, and body of work of that shown in the images. Work done by a production studio is not acceptable. All work must be designed and executed by the accepted artist. Your exhibited art must be original and your own creation. No use of commercial kits or molds. Commercial reproductions are discouraged. NO IMPORTS. No wearable art such at T-shirts, belts, hats, handbags, shoes, wallets, capes etc. other than handcrafted jewelry. Exhibiting artist(s) are required to display an artist's statement in a prominent place within their booths. 33% of all 2-Dimensional work displayed must be original. Artists must define reproduction or limited edition throughout their artist's statement and disclose this information on the individual piece. T-shirts, postcards, note cards, mouse pads or other personal promotional items are not permitted. Artists who break down displays or depart before closing time of the festival will not be invited back for future shows unless proof of an emergency is presented. Artists who sell their entire body of work must remain with their booths for the duration of the show. All Artists are responsible for collecting and paying State of Texas sales tax. No commission on sales will be paid to the Midtown Management District or Midtown Art in the Park. Artists retain all revenue from the sale of their work. In order to create event continuity and a destination if you are using a tent, structures must be white. WE DO NOT PROVIDE TENTS, TABLES or CHAIRS. This is a “family friendly” event. Please keep that in mind when choosing art work, to share with the community. In order to increase the salability of your work you may wish to consider pricing. NO alcohol may be brought into the event site. NO glass containers allowed. This is a No Smoking Park. Any breach of the rules forfeits all rights of the artist, may result in immediate removal from the show without a refund. On site electricity is not available for the artists at this time. Please refrain from changing your email address after you have made your application. All correspondence to the artists selected will be electronic in nature. We cannot mail by US Post information to individual artists - please be sure your email and Internet are up and running. Booth Information All payments for Application Fees and Booth Fees MUST BE made through ZAPPLICATION Artists may share a booth so long as both artists have qualified by jury process individually and both artists pay the $35 non refundable application fee to participate in the festival. Full booth payment must come from a single artist. Once an artist is selected for participation you will be eligible to purchase an assigned: Single booth 10x10 space for $100. Or a Double booth 20x20 space for $150. Priority for booth assignments is given to the returning artists. It is the artist’s responsibility to provide all items needed to create a pleasing display. Midtown Houston does not provide tents. We work very hard to create a sense of destination with an appealing atmosphere. If you are bringing your own tent it MUST BE WHITE. *Please be aware we have participating organizations that will have branded tents. They may not be white. Artists are required to have white tents. If you need a white tent booth setup we can put you in touch with our rental company. Payments and arrangements for the setup are between the artist and rental company. SET UP You may setup on Friday, April 6, 2018 anytime after noon. Please notify festival staff ahead of time if you plan on setting up on Friday. We will have overnight security. We do not recommend leaving any valuables in your space overnight. Setup is at your own risk and we assume no responsibility. |
