General Information

KAABOO ARTWORK is focused on offering high quality contemporary art that appeals to our dedicated audience of sophisticated and culturally-inclined patrons of fine art and culture.

We use media categories to organize artists' images into sensible groups to facilitate the jury’s review. We strive for a balanced show that features a diverse range of high-quality work; however, please note that there is no quota for different categories. We welcome innovative work – if you are not sure which category to apply for, pick one that best suits your work. We will not reject work because we disagree with your choice of category.

CeramicsAll original clay and porcelain work, excluding jewelry. No machine-made or mass-produced work permitted.

Digital ArtAny original work for which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using a computer. Work in this category must be in limited editions, signed and numbered on archival quality materials. Traditional photographs taken through a digital media should apply in the photography category.

Drawing: Work created using dry media including chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax crayon, etc., as well as work made from inks and washes applied by pen or brush.

FiberAll work crafted from fibers, including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry and papermaking, whether wearable or not. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production are permitted. Likewise, we do not permit factory-produced wearable items, even if the artist modified or enhanced those items.

GlassPlease note that we do not permit mass-produced items, including items made from molds.

JewelryAll jewelry, whether the work is produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, plastic or other materials should be entered in this category. No commercial casts, molds or production studio work is permitted.

MetalworksThis category includes all non-sculptural, non-jewelry works crafted from metals.

Mixed MediaThis category includes works, both two- and three-dimensional, that incorporate more than one type of material to produce.

New MediaThis category includes artwork that makes use of electronic media and technology. It includes projection work, video art, interactive electronic work, new technology work, light sculpture, etc.

PaintingWorks created in oils, acrylics, watercolor, etc. are included in this category. Reproductions of the artist’s original work are permitted, so long as (1) the artist displays a substantial quantity of original work in their booth, and (2) reproductions are clearly identified as such. (Please note that we do not require a specific percentage of original work, trusting that the artist will use their best judgment.) We encourage, but do not require, signed and numbered editions of any reproductions. Please define your work in your artist statement and include a description of your process.

PhotographyPhotographic prints made from the artist's original image, which have been processed by that artist, or under his or her direct supervision, are included in this category. Photogravure, intaglio, and other alternate process techniques used to reproduce the artist’s photographs should apply in this category. Please disclose both their creative and printing processes with your application.

PrintmakingPrinted works for which the artist's hand manipulated the plates, stones, wood blocks or screens may be entered in this category. Printmakers are required to disclose both their creative and printmaking processes. Photocopies, giclées, or offset reproductions are not permitted.

SculptureThis category includes three-dimensional original work done in any medium.

WoodOriginal works in wood that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved are accepted in the wood category.
