Dear administrators,

Spring is upon us! In light of new beginnings, join us in saying farewell to Susan Walicki and Kate Kreutz, two lovely ladies who have supported you and the ZAPP program for the last three years. At the same time, we’re pleased to introduce the newest ZAPPers who you’ll be working with, Justina Braziulyte and Mareike Bergen!

Read on to learn about noteworthy enhancements, see a recap of the 2018 conference in Florida, and more!

GOODBYES ARE NEVER EASY
We’re both sad and excited to announce that Susan and Kate have moved on to new adventures. These ladies joined the ZAPP team in 2015 and have contributed greatly to the advancement of our system all while offering amazing support to administrator and artists. Susan will be taking some time to explore and travel, and Kate will be relocating across the pond to live in London!

Reminder: Be sure to email zapphelp@westaf.org or send us a ticket so the first available person on our team can assist you with inquiries, renewals, and troubleshooting.

MEET OUR NEWEST ZAPPERS

JUSTINA BRAZIULYTE
Justina—a previous ZAPP customer service associate—has joined our team full-time! Originally from the suburbs of Illinois, she moved to Denver to learn computer science. She practices self-paced computer programming and coding. Justina will put her tech skills to use by working to advance our system (think documenting enhancements and errors) and she’ll also be onboarding new ZAPP administrators. When not working or learning to code, she enjoys being creative with digital photography and taking drives and hikes in the mountains.

MAREIKE BERGEN
Mareike Bergen is a ZAPP program associate. She provides customer support for ZAPP and will assist the ZAPP team by processing contract renewals, coordinating logistics, and more. Bergen has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from

Bethel College and has a background in customer service and event planning. Originally from Kansas, she relocated to Denver after graduating from college. Outside of work, she enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and cooking.

A RECAP OF THE ARTS FESTIVAL CONFERENCE IN BOCA RATON
A big thank you to the knowledgeable speakers, festival directors, and engaging artists who attended our Arts Festival Conference in February!

The 2018 conference took place February 15-16 in Boca Raton, Florida. Festival directors, administrators, and artists gathered for two days of professional development, networking, and collaborating on ways to improve the festival industry.

Interested in reading a couple reports from the conference? Click HERE for an overview by Connie Mettler, who runs Art Fair Insiders. Click HERE for a report by Melanie Rolfes, a working artist!

Brenda Conway of Results Catalyst Consulting presented at the conference on strategies to avoid burnout. Check out her new guide, How to Organize & Host a Community Arts Festival, which offers tips to help administrators organize and grow your community arts festival.

WHO USES JURYBUDDY?
During the conference, we hosted the ever popular Public Portfolio Critique, where we projected artists’ images using our JuryBuddy application. This method of jurying—used by some of the most recognized festivals across the country—is a standalone application that works in tandem with ZAPP to project and advance images simultaneously instead of one by one.

Want to know who uses JuryBuddy? HERE’s a list!

If you don’t use JuryBuddy yet and are interested in learning more, send us an email at zapphelp@westaf.org.

DO YOU GIVE AWARDS AT YOUR SHOW? MAKE IT EVEN EASIER WITH ZAPP® ONSITE!
ZAPP offers an onsite adjudication tool that allows judges at art festivals to score booths using an iPad or tablet, alleviating them of the burden of lugging around clunky binders and clipboards when walking booth to booth to determine Best in Show and other awards. BONUS: Because ZAPP® Onsite syncs directly with ZAPP, judges can view images artists submitted for jurying and compare them to those presented at the show.

Click HERE to see a brief overview video of Onsite!

Think this could save you time and streamline your adjudication process? (Hint: it will!) Email us to schedule your free demo!
