The third annual ZAPP® Conference brought together artists and administrators in the arts festival field for two days of targeted art business and professional development programming. Featured below is audio from the 2011 Conference Symposium session, Re-envisioning the Art Business: Trends in Parallel Universes.

Re-envisioning the Art Business: Trends in Parallel Universes
After a successful launch at the 2010 Conference, the ZAPP® Symposium returned in 2011 with a session which thoughtfully explored trends occurring in both the festival and the greater art business worlds, including discussions of online offerings, pop-up shops, alt-craft, and community engagement.

Moderated by Stephen M. King (Des Moines Arts Festival), this session featured experts Tucker Berta (Midtown Alliance), Mitch Menchaca (Americans for the Arts), Michael Salguero (CustomMade.com), and Kirsten Stingle (Kirsten Stingle Figurative Ceramics), who examined the classic art fair, alternative fairs, pop-up stores, online avenues, and other hip happenings to find what successes can be gleaned and re-purposed to fit the shifting needs of the industry.
