After a successful 2016 launch and 15 years of celebrating artists and their handmade work during the Holiday season, we are thrilled to bring the second edition of the One of a Kind Spring Show.  This 3-day show featuring fine art and craft from a juried selection of talented artists will run at Chicago's Merchandise Mart April 28 - April 30, 2017

The One of a Kind Show invites artists, designers and makers with high quality, handmade, original work to apply to be part of the One of a Kind Spring experience in Chicago!  Eligible work ranges from giftable craft to premium fine art.  Applicants will be juried and chosen based on uniqueness, craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Acceptance Criteria for Artists (Non Emerging Artists) and Participation Rules

  • You must be the artist/designer of your work
  • You must be the original creator/assembler/producer/maker of your work
  • You must understand and have mastered the craft process needed to make your work
  • You must be intimately involved in the production process from start to finish
  • You must create/produce your work in the country in which you reside
  • Artists must be on-site representing their work for the duration of the show
  • Artists may have limited assistants/apprentices as long as the original artist in on-site and involved in the production as stated above
  • Artists may display work only in the media category in which they were accepted
  • Reproduction aids such as molds used in jewelry or ceramics must be created by the applying artist
  • For photographers only:  original photography should make up most of the artist's booth
  • For fine artists: signed and numbered limited editions will be permitted
  • Booth sharing is not permitted

New! Acceptance Criteria for Emerging Artists - THIS SECTION IS FULL
The One of a Kind Show will be including emerging artists in this year’s holiday show. The designated spaces will be dedicated to talented up and coming artists, designers and makers.  To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:
  • First time participant in the One of a Kind Show
  • Less than 3 years of professional experience as a full time artist (installations, exhibitions and/or art shows)
  • Exceptional work and presentation
  • You must be the artist/designer of your work
  • You must be the original creator/assembler/producer/maker of your work
  • You must understand and have mastered the craft process needed to make your craft

  • You must create/produce your work in the county in which you reside
  • Artists may have limited assistants/apprentices as long as the original artist is on-site and involved in the production as stated above

Application Process
  • All applications must be submitted online through Zapplication at www.zapplication.org.  
  • To be considered you will be asked to:
    • Create an online artist profile
    • Prepare and upload 5 images in total
      • 3 images of your work
      • 1 image of your studio/work space
      • 1 image of your booth/display 
      • Images must be 1920 pixels on the longest side 
    • Submit a $35 USD non-refundable application fee
    • Complete the online application and submit it before midnight (CST) for the late jury on February 7, 2017

Jury Notification

Notification of your jury status (early jury) will be emailed to you on October 18, 2016 and posted on your profile through Zapplication. Please do not call.

Accepted artists will receive an acceptance email including a contract, booth payment schedule and additional show information via email.  A 50% deposit is due with the contract no later than 2 weeks after receiving your acceptance notification- November 3, 2016 (In special situations, payment plans can be arranged.)

  • Standard Booth - approximately 10'x10' = $1900
  • Standard Corner Booth - approximately 10'x10' = $2300
    • Corner configurations consist of 2 walls & 2 sides of exposure, not 3 walls
  • Multiple booths are available upon request and the pricing is reflected above
