The forty third annual show will be held "Under the Trees of Old Chautauqua" on August 19 and 20, 2017.
The Pennsylvania Chautauqua sponsors an Art Show, as a community fundraiser, on the third full weekend in August. The Pennsylvania Chautauqua is a non-profit organization established in 1892 for the purpose of "the advancement of literary, scientific, intellectual, physical and social welfare and the promotion of cultural and religious activities, recreation and entertainment”.
The Pennsylvania Chautauqua is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mount Gretna is a small Victorian community founded in the late 1800's as a summer resort. Initially the only way for residents to reach their cottages in the woods was to travel by train. Gretna was a stop along the Cornwall/Lebanon line. Our streets were footpaths until automobiles became the mode of travel. Many of the original cottages surround an open-air playhouse where numerous cultural events are held. Our quaint atmosphere attracts many visitors every summer for music, theater, a visit to the local ice cream shop or just a walk in the woods and, of course, to the Art Show!

Artists who exhibit in our show have repeatedly expressed their approval of the quality of our show. We appreciate the cooperation and integrity of the artists and craft persons who abide by the rules.
ALL artists and craft persons will be juried with the exception of the thirty winners of 2016 "Judges' Choice Awards". These artists may return to the 2017 show without going through the jury process or submitting the jury fee.
· Only works consistent with those represented in entry slides are to be displayed or offered for sale. Artists may exhibit and sell works in different categories providing each category was submitted and accepted.
· Only original paintings, photography and crafts by the accepted artist are eligible. Commercially mass-produced items including kit assembled or imported jewelry or hobby items of any kind are not eligible.

· Artists are permitted to have double booth spaces.

A separate application and jury fee is required if applying in more than one category.
Application deadline is April 3, 2017. All applications are process via www.Zapplication.org
Please select your images carefully. The quality of your image as well as the quality of your work directly affects your score. Submit three (3) images of your recent work and one (1) image of a fully stocked booth or display.
The panel consists of four professional artists. Each year new jurors are selected. Judging is anonymous; no artists' names are used. The jurors' scores are based on creativity, originality, technique, design and presentation. Since your score is based solely on these images, they should be an accurate representation of your work. All four images from each application are projected simultaneously. The jury assigns a numerical score to each entry. The applicants with the highest scores in their category are accepted. A total of approximately 250 applications will be accepted. Acceptance in a previous show(s) does not guarantee acceptance in the current show. Donations to the Pennsylvania Chautauqua or the Mount Gretna Arts Council, in no way, insure acceptance into the show.
The Mount Gretna Outdoor Art Show is proud to be considered as one of the best shows in the country. The show is a proud recipient of HARRISBURG MAGAZINE’S Readers’ Choice Award and CENTRAL PA magazine’s HOT LIST.
