Q-FEST (formerly Midsummer Arts Faire) is moving to the first weekend in June! The event is now a two-day juried art exhibition and sale located in the historic downtown Washington Park in Quincy, Illinois. Our new and improved format allows us to partner with local organizations and expand our offerings in an effort to recruit even more art lovers and patrons.
Event organizers are seeking a diverse group of artists and makers that represent both fine and handmade indie art. Participating artists will experience the same "above-and-beyond" helpfulness of energetic volunteers and free amenities like nearby parking which artists have praised in the past. That hospitality will be combined with regional entertainment Saturday evening, an expanded Taste of Quincy food court and hands-on arts activities for the whole family throughout the weekend.
Show organizers accept a maximum of 60 artists to ensure individual sales remain strong. Show organizers are dedicated to growing the event to become a Midwest cultural tourism destination and spend time and resources to market the event throughout the community and the tri-state area of West Central Illinois, Northeast Missouri and Southeast Iowa.
All artwork must be original art produced by the exhibiting artist.
Eligible Media Categories include:
2-D such as drawing, photography/digital photography, printmaking, mixed media, painting, fiber arts and 3-D such as clay, jewelry, sculpture, wood and glass.
Friday, June 2: Setup only
Saturday, June 3: 10:00am - 7:00pm
Sunday, June 4: 11:00am - 4:00pm
Jury and Awards:
Exhibitors will be selected by a 5-member panel of jurors including fine arts professionals. Jurors will rank the work submitted by applicants on a scale of 1 to 10.
Each year, a qualified fine art professional is selected by Event Organizers to judge participating artists' work for cash awards. Purchase awards are selected by Purchase Award program participants. Total cash awards in 2017 are expected to be over $5,000 and include a $1,000 Best of Show Purchase Award.
As part of our mission, we strongly encourage artists to engage patrons by offering demonstrations of your creative process in your booth. Demonstrating artists will be recognized in the printed program. Please contact Event Organizers if special arrangements are needed to accomodate your demonstration.
Young Collectors Gallery:
Donate Art for a Great Cause! No parents are allowed at the Midsummer Arts Faire Young Collectors Gallery, designed to inspire young people to become collectors of fine art. All participating artists are invited to donate small pieces of original work to be sold to children ages 4-14 for $10 or less. 2-D work should be matted and shrink-wrapped. Art will be juried for awards. A portion of the proceeds supports school art programs in the area. For more information, contact Event Organizers.
