Now in its 60th year, the Edmonds Arts Festival (EAF) has grown from a small community art fair to one of the most prestigious in the Pacific Northwest, attracting artists from across the nation and Canada. The EAF provides a unique opportunity for patrons to meet over 240 artists and purchase their work in a beautiful outdoor setting overlooking Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. In addition, EAF offers free live entertainment, a juried gallery exhibition, a nationally recognized juried student art exhibit, a hands-on children’s art activity area and a wonderful selection of fair food. In 2015, EAF showcased approximately 240 artists located on both the grassy field east of the Frances Anderson Center and the Plaza to the west.
ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION: The Edmonds Arts Festival supports the artists through an extensive advertising campaign that includes more than $150,000 in print, TV, radio and online coverage. The Festival maintains a Facebook page as well as a website that contains a catalog page with an image of each artist’s work and a link to their website.
RETURN TO THE COMMUNITY: Profits from the Edmonds Arts Festival are returned to the community through the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, in the form of art scholarships, education grants, public art and its maintenance. In addition, the Festival and Foundation supports ArtWorks, a gathering place for artists in downtown Edmonds, as well as support for many local art groups including the Edmonds Center for the Arts and Cascadia Art Museum.

APPLICANTS FOR PLAZA AND FIELD
There are two locations for artist booths at the Edmonds Arts Festival (see map). The Plaza, above the Edmonds Library and to the west, consists of approximately 40 artists with inside and outside locations. The Field, to the east, contains approximately 200 artists, all outside.
Categories accepted on the field are ceramics, drawing, fiber non-wearable and wearable, garden art, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media 2D and 3D, music, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and wood.
Plaza – Traditional Arts and Crafts and Culinary Arts
Traditional crafts historically are considered functional and may include soap, candles, beadwork, quilting, rug making, brooms, calligraphy and pressed flowers. Jewelers whose process consists primarily of assembly and the use of commercially produced components must apply in the “Plaza” category. Culinary art includes handcrafted food items such as pasta, soup mixes, jams, honey and candy, not intended for consumption on the premises.
MEDIUM AND DESCRIPTIONS
Important: There are no longer traditional or culinary categories. Artists instead must apply in the “Plaza” category. This includes artists that normally apply in categories such as “wood” but prefer to be located on the Plaza.
Each juror views and scores (1-5) your entry on a laptop or iPad. The EAF has a blind jury and jurors only see an artist’s ID number and the five images. We request that in all of your images nothing shows you, your name, your website or the name of your business. For 2-D artists, if a signature is easily readable on your work, please use editing software to make it unreadable. Scores are confidential and are not available to applicants. Jurors include working artists, gallery owners, and art educators.
Note: Four images of your artwork and one image of your booth (as it will be set up) must be included with your application. The booth photo is a KEY PART of the jury process and is weighed evenly with artwork images. See https://www.zapplication.org/help-center.php?page=image-preparation for information on preparing and submitting your images.
TAX REPORTING: collection and reporting of Washington state sales tax are the responsibility of the artist. UBI (tax identification) is required by Washington state. If your business is located out of state, you may obtain a temporary tax ID number by calling 800.647.7706 or visiting http://dor.wa.gov. A UBI number is required for participation in the Festival.
CULINARY ARTISTS: Culinary artists who provide samples must obtain the necessary food handling permits through the Snohomish County Health Department prior to the Festival. Call 425.339.5250 or visit http://www.snohd.org/Food/Temporary-Food-Booths for more information.
INSURANCE: The Edmonds Arts Festival expects booth artists to carry their own insurance. You do not need to send us a copy of your policy.
PETS: The Edmonds Arts Festival is held in a city park and by City Ordinance, only documented service animals are allowed.
PARKING, LOADING IN AND OUT: Artists must abide by loading and unloading procedures as prescribed and provided by EAF. As the Festival provides free parking and shuttle service for artists from the Bell Street Parking lot, participants further agree to park only in the Bell Street lot and not on the streets surrounding the Festival. Failure to comply with the rules and guidelines pertaining to loading, unloading and parking during the Festival may result in the denial of participation in future EAF sponsored events.
CANCELLATION POLICY: There are no refunds on booth fees after May 12, 2017; no exceptions. Prior to May 12, booth fees will be returned by check, minus a 7% processing fee.
Artists are required to have a booth that will withstand all Northwest weather conditions in June. Artists must be prepared for wind, and/or rain, as well as hot, sunny days.
Field: The Festival field is level and grassy except for the baseball infield, which is covered by a heavy woven tarp. Tents should be weighted down, not staked, due to underground irrigation. Electricity is available for five booths in the Northwest corner.
Plaza: The Plaza contains both outside and indoor locations. Outdoors is a mix of both hard, level surfaces and grassy areas. Weights must be used. No tents or canopies are allowed inside the Plaza Room. Electricity is available only inside the Plaza Room.
