Event Summary
The Big Brothers Big Sisters BIG Art Show is a popular, one-day juried event that occurs every year on the third Saturday of August, that together with Petoskey's Festival on the Bay, brings thousands of locals, seasonal residents and tourists to the area for the day.

The 12 Annual BIG Art Show  is nestled within Petoskey's breathtaking and historic Pennsylvania Park located in the heart of downtown and draws a very diverse crowd who are looking for everything from a one-of-a-kind statement piece for their home to an intricate piece of jewelry to give as a gift.

100% of the vendor booth fees help to provide mentors for local at-risk kids in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.

BIG Art Show Details:
Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Pennsylvania Park in Petoskey, Michigan

Pennsylvania Park, Downtown Petoskey, Michigan

Medium Categories: Painting, digital art, drawing, metal, printmaking, pottery, fiber, mixed media, photography, glass, wood, jewelry, sculpture and specialty foods (specialty foods category very limited).
 
Eligibility: The jury will select up to 135 exhibitors based on originality, artistic conception, and quality workmanship.

Regardless of weather, all exhibitors must be set up by 10am on Saturday, August 19th and remain open until close of the show at 5pm.

7:00 to 9:00am – Complimentary Pastries and Coffee for Artists
9:00am - All exhibitors must be check in
10:00am – Show Opens
5:00pm – Show Closes
 
Fees & Booth Information:
Application Fee: $25 (non-refundable)
Single 10' x 10' Booth Fee: $175 (non-refundable after confirmation of acceptance)
Double 10' x 20' Booth Fee: $350  (non-refundable after confirmation of acceptance)

The committee reserves the right to assess an additional fee on the day of the event if you are using more than the allotted space that you have purchased for the show.

Final booth placement is at the sole discretion of the BIG Art Show Committee and Jury.

Artist Breakfast: A complimentary assortment of local pastries and coffee will be provided for participating artists on the morning of the show from 7:00am to 9:00am.

 

Rules/Regulations
1. Each application includes jurying of one artist in one medium. Each applicant is allowed to submit a maximum of two applications representing two different mediums.

             If you have two mediums you would like to exhibit:
            Artists must submit two separate applications, photos and payments for each medium.
            If only one medium is accepted, only that medium may be exhibited at the show.
            
           Jewelry is a separate medium and requires its own application materials for jurying.

2. Three (3) images of the artwork plus one (1) of the booth must be submitted with the application. The show organizers reserve the right to use one or more of these images for marketing purposes, including social media.

Only your original work shown in the examples of the photos you submit with your BIG Art Show application may be displayed at the show.

3. All work must be original in content and execution.
 
4. NO DEALERS, IMPORTERS, OR AGENTS ALLOWED.
 
5. Copies, commercial molds/kits, mass produced jewelry/settings, musical tapes, and commercially printed books are strictly prohibited.
 
6. The Petoskey City Ordinance prohibits the sale of any and all commercially produced items.
 
7. Color laser copies and offset lithography must be marked reproductions and 2/3 of work shown must be original.
  
8. The BIGS Committee and Jury reserve the right to reject any work it considers unsuitable, or that was not juried. The committee also reserves the right to interpret these rules. Failure to comply with these rules could mean dismissal from the show with no refund.

9. Regardless of weather, all exhibitors must be checked in by 9am, set up by 10am and remain open until close of the show at 5pm.

10. Registration and set-up will begin at 6:30am the day of the show. The City of Petoskey strictly prohibits exhibitors from setting up the day/night before or prior to 6:30am the day of the show.

11. Picture ID of artist is required when checking in during event registration and set-up.

12. Artists are responsible for collecting and filing Michigan Sales Tax.

13. No pets, smoking, alcoholic beverages, drugs, generators, radios, or music of any kind are allowed.

14. Only artists accepted in the BIG Art Show will be allowed to participate. Exhibitor spaces will be numbered and exhibitors must stay within the space allotted. Subletting, selling or giving space to another is strictly prohibited.

Artist Notification
All artists whether selected, not selected or chosen to be waitlisted by the jury will be notified by email through Zapplication.org by May 16, 2017.

Artists who have been seleted for the show must respond and submit the booth payment by check no later than July 1, 2017. If an artist does not submit payment by June 15, 2017, it will result in the reversal of the invitation and permit the invitation of an alternate artists on the waiting list.

The waitlist for artists is based on their jurors' score withing the category where an opening may occur. A balanced show is a priority.

Payments must be postmarked by June 15, 2017 to not be considered late.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
The $25 application jury fee paid at the time of an applicaiton submission is non-refundable. Cancellations received after an artist accepts the invitation to participate and submits payment will not receive a refund.

NO STAKES ALLOWED IN THE PARK. This show takes place in a park with an underground sprinkler system. Come prepared with heavy weights in case of wind and to set up on uneven ground. Artists who do not comply will be removed,
