Event Summary

The Baltimore Book Festival takes place at Baltimore's beautiful Inner Harbor, home to an array of dining, shopping, and entertainment options, steps from the water.

The Baltimore Book Festival is produced by the Baltimore Office Promotion & The Arts, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving as Baltimore City's arts council, events center, and film office.

The festival is 100% free and open to the public. The Baltimore Book Festival, a literary feast with gourmet eats, draws more than 100,000 visitors, over the three festival days. The Baltimore Book Festival does not collect any commission on exhibitor sales.



General Information

What is a Single-Day Tabler:

Designed for those who wish to be part of the festival, but cannot staff a tent for three full days, or fill a tent with merchandise, Single-Day Tablers participate for one full day of the festival, from 11am - close. Set up time will begin at 8am on the day of participation, breakdown will begin at 6pm on Friday and 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. You will be in a large tent presented in a festive marketplace atmosphere with other Single-Day Tablers. Tablers will be located on Bicenntenial Plaza (outside of the Baltimore Visitor Center). To include:
 
  • Emerging Authors/Booksellers/Publishers
  • Zines/Small Press
  • Educational Institution promoting literary arts
  • Sellers of literary/book-themed products such as journals, pens, jewelry, clothing, stationary, e-readers, etc.
  • Those promoting a literary-oriented event or resource
  • An attraction with a literary connection (or related book)
  • Non-Profit or Cultural Organization: if your organization is not literary in nature, you must propose a STRONG book-themed element as part of your display

Single-Day Table Package:
 
  • [1] 6' table space within a larger festival marketplace, for one day of the event with [2] chairs
  • Access to an electrical outlet (20 amps)
  • Single-Day Tabler sign
  • Listing in the event program, website and Press Kit
  • A comprehensive Tabler guide (emailed pre-festival)
  • The Festival does NOT provide parking. We will email a list of area garages, to selected Tablers. You can reserve parking in advance at www.baltimoreparking.com.

What is an Exhbitor:

Exhibitors participate for ALL THREE DAYS OF THE FESTIVAL, from 11am - close. To include:
 
  • Authors/Booksellers/ Publishers
  • Educational Institution promoting literary arts 
  • Sellers of literary/book-themed products such as journals, pens, jewelry, clothing, stationary, e-readers, etc.
  • Those promoting a literary-oriented event or resource
  • An attraction with a literary connection (or related book)
  • Non-Profit or Cultural Organization: if your organization is not literary in nature, you must propose a STRONG book-themed element as part of your activation and display

Exhibitor Package:
 
  • Festival-provided tent
  • [1] 6' table & [2] chairs
  • Access to an electrical outlet (20 amps)
  • Exhibitor sign
  • Overnight roaming security
  • Listing in the event program, website and Press Kit
  • A comprehensive exhibitor guide (emailed pre-festival)
  • The Festival does NOT provide parking, but will supply a list of area garages to selected exhibitors. Spaces may be reserved in advance at www.baltimoreparking.com

Waitlist Information:

Single-Day Tablers and Exhibitors are pulled from the waitlist based on space availability, festival curation, and the vision of the Baltimore Book Festival organizers for a successful and robust exhibition program.  Inclusion in the Single-Day Tablers Marketplace, Exhibitor program, or any section of the Baltimore Book Festival 2018, ultimately is at the discretion of Festival Staff.

PLEASE NOTE: Media and commercial space is reserved for corporate sponsors/media outlets. Through their generosity, we are able to keep the Baltimore Book Festival free and open to the public. What constitutes "commercial space" or "Media Space" is at the discretion of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts. If you are interested in becoming a festival sponsor, please contact Ebony Byrd at 443-263-4324 or email ebyrd@PROMOTIONandARTS.org.

Rules/Regulations

Single-Day Tabler Rules:
 
  • No Refunds: refunds for application fees, equipment fees, etc. are not issued.
    Stand-alone pop-up tents/extra tables are prohibited.
  • Unauthorized/unapproved use of any festival space is prohibited.
  • Single Day-Tabler set-up is confined to the purchased table space footprint.
  • Storage areas located behind or outside the tent footprint is prohibited.
  • No sound systems in tents. 
  • Participants agree that Baltimore Book Festival shall have the right to reproduce digital images or the reproductions of selected artwork for publicity or marketing purposes.
  • Single-Day Tablers must keep their space open all hours of the festival weekend, rain or shine.
  • 80% of materials displayed, sold and distributed must be related to the literary arts.
  • Tablers may not re-sell, share with an unaccepted exhibitor or sublet any portion of their space. Violations will result in expulsion from the festival, with no refund.

Single-Day Tablers violating the rules of this show or who fail to cooperate with the Festival Staff will not be permitted to exhibit. The show will be monitored for misrepresentation and we reserve the right to remove any questionable, non-approved items from the show.

  • Standard (10x10x7) Space Fee (Friday, Saturday& Sunday): $600

Distribution of spaces are at the discretion of Festival Staff. 

Your Space At The Festival

Single-Day Tablers:
  • You must be ready to go by 11am each day and remain open until the festival closes each day.
  • Display: Your materials must fit into the space you reserved, and be designed to separate you from your neighbors.  The tents are of a number of different styles (such as 10x10, 10x20, 10x30, etc.) with most being larger tents shared by two or more artists.  
  • Electricity:  You will have access to 20 amps of electricity. Bring a heavy-duty outdoor extension cord of at least 25 feet in order to access electricity for your booth.  The festival will not have extension cords to borrow, rent or purchase.
  • Lighting: The Baltimore Book Festival provides 1-2 lights per tent only.  You will need to plug the lights into the electrical box behind your tent and then turn them on.  You may want to bring supplementary lighting for your display. 
  • Signage: The Baltimore Book Festival provides individual signage for each exhibitor. You may bring signage and other printed collateral material.
  • Wi-Fi internet will not be available in your space specifically to collect payments.  Please use another method of collecting payments that does not require Wi-Fi access.
  • Be courteous to your neighbors.

Exhibitors are required close their tent walls each night. We will have festival staff available to assist with closing tent walls at the end of each night of the festival.

Exhibitors are permitted to keep their display and artwork in their space overnight at their own discretion.
