Event Summary

WHITEFISH ARTS FESTIVAL

This year will be the 39th annual Whitefish Arts Festival. It is an event that has become a highlight for many over the 4th of July weekend and is sponsored by Whitefish Christian Academy. An annual favorite throughout the Northwest, the Whitefish Arts Festival maintains a long tradition of high quality arts and fine crafts. Whitefish is a picturesque village nestled in the Flathead Valley of Montana featuring beautiful lakes, majestic mountains, and friendly folks strolling the streets during the 4th of July weekend.

Artists from across the country are represented in the Whitefish Arts Festival. Metal sculptures, paintings and photography, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and home decorations are just some of the featured fine arts. There is always a variety of Montana style art available. All of the art is handmade.



General Information

The WAF is open to all artists and craftspeople. We invite you to join us for a special weekend! All work must be original and hand crafted by the artist. Commercially made goods or work from kits or a commercial pattern are not permitted. Artists are required to be present for the entire show. The WAF is a juried art festival. Artwork will be evaluated for creativity, quality, originality, and jury preference.
 

IMPORTANT DATES:

JAN 6: Applications available on Zapplications. 
MAR 5: Applications and a $35 non-refundable application fee are due.
MAR 12: E-mail of Acceptance Notifications.
APR 4: Full booth payment including special requests are due. Late payments may not be accepted.
APR 5: Status update for Wait List Artists

Information and Regulations – Artists

INFORMATION & REGULATIONS:

  • TENTS AND DISPLAYS:

Artists must supply all materials needed for their display. We request that all exhibitors use a well-built or commercial grade tent, EZ Up or better. All displays must be designed to fit in the purchased booth space.

NO spikes are allowed. A fine of $100 per day will be levied after 1st Warning. Use heavy weights or water weights to secure your tent. Be prepared for sunshine, rain, and possible gusty winds.

 

  • BOOTH REQUESTS:

The Whitefish Parks Department has plans to improve Depot Park including a Gazebo for visitors to relax and enjoy. Due to construction/renovation, Depot Park will be laid out differently in 2018. As soon as we have the details from the Whitefish Parks Department, a map will be provided to Accepted Artists for booth requests.  Booth/Location requests will be considered in the order they are received, with select artists (artists who have a long history with the Whitefish Arts Festival) spaces to be determined first.

 

  • BOOTH SETUP:

Begins Thursday, July 5th, at 1p.m.-8pm on Thursday and continues Friday, July 6th from 7:30-9:30am.

 

  • SECURITY:

Professional overnight security will be provided Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.  The Whitefish Arts Festival and/or Whitefish Christian Academy are not responsible for any theft, loss, or damage to artwork or booths at the show.

 

  • PETS:

Please remember that pets are required to be on a leash and must be under their owner’s control at all times. Dogs are not permitted in eating areas. You will be held liable for all damages caused by your pet and ‘chatty’ dogs will be removed. Owners are responsible for immediate pet clean up.

 

  • PARKING:

Remember, we must save room for our customers!

Artists agree not to park within the restricted parking areas of the festival without written approval from festival organizers. Violators will not be invited back to the Whitefish Arts Festival.

 

  • ELECTRICITY:

The City of Whitefish has introduced a new policy and will charge for electricity use. Artists requesting 110V electricity will be grouped and there will be a $25.00 per booth fee.

 

  • MISCELLANEOUS:

The Artisan Food category applies to exhibitors who offer specialty food offerings like bakery items, jams, and artisan specialties. No in-booth preparation allowed other than samples. Current MT Food License required with booth and product photos.

No camping on city streets or empty parking lots. You will be towed!

SPECIAL REQUESTS:
  
We want you to be happy with your space during this festive weekend.  If you have a preference as to placement in the park, whether it is shade, direct sunlight, away from the music, near the stage, perimeter, center, near the food, near a handicapped bathroom, etc, let us know.  We sincerely try and take every request into consideration but please understand that we are working with limited resources and no climate control.
