Event Summary

CTAC is seeking artists, designers, artisans, crafters and producers to participate in the 3rd Annual Merry Makers Marketplace.  We're expanding!  This year Merry Makers Marketplace in Petoskey will be held in Crooked Tree Arts Center’s galleries and the Carnegie Library Building,to accommodate over 40 artist booths, making it the destination to kick-off the holiday shopping season.  

Founded in 1971, the mission of the Crooked Tree Arts Center is to inspire and enrich lives through the arts. CTAC offers exhibits, concerts, classes, lectures, special events and so much more. CTAC Petoskey is housed in a fully-renovated former Methodist Church, originally constructed in 1890 and the adjacent Carnegie Library Building. The Petoskey Crooked Tree Arts Center brings thousands of visitors to our downtown and the greater Little Traverse area throughout the year.

Show Dates:  Friday, November 23 from 10 AM - 4 PM & Saturday, November 24 from 10 AM - 4 PM

  • Set-Up:  Friday, November 23,  from 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM. Artists must be ready for retail opening by 10:00 AM.  Carts, dollies and personnel will be available to assist with loading and unloading.  CTAC volunteers will also be available to provide artists with breaks throughout the event.

Octotber 15, 2018: Deadline for invited artists to accept via ZAPP and confirm space in show by paying booth fee in full.

 Promotion/ Benefits to the Artists:
  • Promotion will begin when you are juried into, and accept your invitation to the Merry Makers Marketplace!
    • Artists will be included/tagged on our website, Facebook page, and email marketing. 
    • Artist names will be listed on promotional flyers posted throughout Petoskey.
    • Select artists may be featured in other print materials, e.g. the CTAC quarterly newsletter.
  • CTAC volunteer crew to help with load in and out.
  • CTAC volunteer booth sitters.
  • WiFi throughout Crooked Tree Arts Center.
  • CTAC will provide light snacks and beverages during the event.
  • Live music.
  • Free gift wrapping station for customers.


Acceptance Criteria:
  • Artists are responsible for their own cash drawer, credit card processing, and sales tax.
  • You must be designer and producer of the work.
  • Your work is DIY craft-oriented. Think Etsy at CTAC!
  • Your items are artfully and professionally represented in your application photos/and or website.
  • All artwork must be handmade, original work, not the work of mass production studios.  No work that has been made with commercial kits allowed.
  • Jewelers must be the designers and hands-on makers of their work.  (Purchased, facet cut gems may be used /Assembled, pre-fabricated jewelry is not allowed.)
  • The Merry Markers Marketplace committee reserves the right to refuse exhibition of work not consistent with submitted images and/or these guidelines.
  • Commercial photographs, giclees and prints are permitted, but must be signed and numbered.
  • Your product, booth design and application information will be juried for quality, authenticity, uniqueness, salability and overall presentation.
  • The Merry Makers Marketplace will be marketed as an affordable marketplace for handmade goods, therefore the average price of your items should fall within the $5 - $250 price range.
  • Artists or their representatives must be present with their work for the entire 2 days of the show.
  • All applications must be submitted online through ZAPPlication at www.zapplication.org.  To be considered, you will be asked to:
  • Create an online artist’s profile
  • Prepare and upload 8 digital images of your work and 1 image of a booth presentation (images must be 1920 pixels X 1920 pixels)
  • Submit a $25 non-refundable application fee
  • Complete the online application and submit it before midnight on September 15, 2018.

  • Booths will be located throughout the spaces of Crooked Tree Arts Center and the adjoining Carnegie Library Building.
  • Booth fee will include one 6’X4’ table, one chair and one table linen.
  • Additional display pieces and embellishments are allowed for display purposes, but are the responsibility of the artists and must conform to the allotted space.
  • Electrical hook-up is available upon request.  Artist must supply own power strip.
Standard Booth: approx.  8’ X 8’  - $100
Shared booths are available.  If artists intend to share a booth, both artists must be included together on a single application.

Do not send booth fee until notified of acceptance.
