Event Summary
The CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace fills the Loann Crane Center for Design with over 100 tables of CCAD artists who represent a wide variety of media and price points. Our artists keep 100% of the profits on cash, credit and check sales after paying the jury and booth fees, but students can waive the jury fee ($25). Applicant exhibitors will be judged based on student or alumni standing, allocating approximately 60% of the tables to current students and 40% to alumni.

The CCAD Fall Art Fair & Marketplace is a juried showcase of work by students and alumni, held on campus twice a year on the first Saturdays of December and April.  

The CCAD Fall Art Fair & Marketplace fills the Loann Crane Center for Design with over 100 tables of CCAD artists who represent a wide variety of media and price points. Our artists keep 100% of the profits on cash and check sales after paying the jury and booth fees totaling.

Our New Fee Structure (put in place Spring 2017):
ALUMNI: $25 application fee; $75 jury fee
STUDENTS: $0 application fee (when you use the waiver); $25 booth fee

The purpose of this event is to:
A. Provide Columbus College of Art & Design students the opportunity to:
• Practice communicating the purpose, inspiration, and techniques of their work.
• Learn the process of participating in a juried art show.
• Engage with the community.
• Earn money for their creations.
B. Engage the Columbus community and art scene with CCAD.
C. Raise money for student programming.
D. Offer alumni an opportunity to:
• Reengage with CCAD.
• Earn money for their creations.
• Engage as mentors for current students.

Jury Fee: $25 - due with application (Deadline Sunday, September 30th, 2018)
Current students will receive the coupon code to waive the jury fee via the MyCCAD Newsletter updates. Students must use the coupon code when submitting the application. No refunds are given if you pay and forget to use the code!
• Alumni may not use the coupon code. Alumni who use the student coupon code will be removed from the adjudication process.
Jury fees are non-refundable. Booth fees are non-refundable. Any exhibitor who cancels after 8:00 AM on November 20, 2017 may be unable to exhibit for two shows.

The CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace will use the digital application known as ZAPPlication. Slides and paper applications will not be accepted. Digital images must be submitted online (www.zapplication.org).

Artist Statement:
Exhibitors are asked to submit a statement of two-hundred (200) characters or less that describe the materials and techniques used to create the artwork, leaving out personally identifying information, as the statement will be read by the jury during the selection process. At least 100 artists will be selected as well as wait list applicants. CCAD reserves the right to balance its show through artists on the wait list.

Collaborative Work:
Artists may apply to “share a table” by registering as a team (This is a profile setting in ZAPP) and submitting one application with 4 images, which should capture the nature of the artwork from both artists evenly. Collaborative work is limited to two artists. Collaborative/Team applications with one student artist and one non-student artist are NOT eligible for the student waiver. Non-students who apply the coupon code to the application fee will be removed from the adjudication process.

NOTE: Communication from ZAPP often only goes to ONE artist on the team (the primary artist in the applicaiton, not the listed collaborator). Please make sure you are relaying communication to your collaborator directly, as they might not be getting the same messages. This is a limitation of our system's communication function.

Jury Process:
The CCAD Art Fair & Marketplace utilizes a blind jury, conducted by panel of qualified artists and art professionals. This selection committee views the four (4) submitted images consecutively, in the order that they were uploaded. When the juror opens a particular image the process, materials, dimensions for each image and “Description of Materials and Techniques” are displayed. The four images also appear to each juror consecutively in a horizontal grouping along with the scoring feature. Scoring is 1 (low) to 7 (high). All scores are combined and averaged. Each juror records scores anonymously and may provide comments. 

Jurors are expected to look for high-quality work that shows an understanding of art practices, communicates intention, expresses a high level of creativity, originality, skill and technique, and is developed. Artwork that is not photographed well, is sloppy, unifinshed, or lacking in skill and technique will be juried accordingly.

This contains important information about your participation and policies- including the inability to get refunds- that you will be subject to once you submit your application.


Exhibiting artists must be CCAD Students or Alumni. Artists must be present during the entirety of the show hours. Any artist leaving prior to the end of the show will be unable to exhibit for two (2) shows. Agents or representatives of the artist do not replace the requirement of the artist to be present during show hours. Assistants are welcome, but must be registered during set-up by the exhibiting artist. All individuals present at a table during the event must be registered and wearing an official event nametag.

All work shown must be original work. Work made from commercial molds, kits, patterns or copyrighted designs not owned by the artist are not permitted. Any commercially made embellishments must be subordinate to the handcrafted work. All work must be for sale.

CCAD does not charge commission on sales and exhibitors keep all profits on cash, credit and check sales. Exhibitors are responsible for all purchases made by cash, credit or check and should plan to bring adequate change for cash payments and necessary equipment to process credit payments (e.g. Square and a phone or tablet).

REMINDER REGARDING CREDIT TRANSACTIONS: CCAD will not be providing credit card stations during the event. This policy has been in effect since the Spring 2017 event and will continue indefinitely. Exhibitors are permitted- and encouraged- to utilize personal electronic payment devices (e.g. Square) to process credit payments. CCAD is not responsible for the actions of any external company providing electronic payment services. Unlike previous events, CCAD will not be facilitating credit payments at this and future events. Please prepare accordingly.

All Exhibitors must file profit with the IRS—CCAD is not responsible for taxes on purchased items. Career Services hosts an optional (but strongly encouraged) Seminar for all exhibitors the week of the sale to discuss pricing, tax responsibilities, and payment processing. Exhibitors with Vendor Licenses should charge the necessary tax rates on all sales.

24-hour security is provided throughout the event, beginning on Friday at 8:00pm. However, all exhibitors display work at their own risk. It is understood that CCAD does not carry insurance to cover personal property of any exhibitor. Exhibitors are considered to be independent contractors, and it is suggested that exhibitors obtain their own insurance.

Exhibitor booth setup begins at 5:00 pm on the Friday before the event (Friday, November 30th, 2018) in the Loann Crane Center for Design and concludes at 8:00 pm; all exhibitors and assistants must be out of the building by 8:00 pm. (An alternative setup time is Saturday 7:00–8:00am for exhibitors who pre-notify the coordinator via email at artfair@ccad.edu at least one week in advance.)

The Loann Crane Center for Design will be closed from 7:00 pm Friday, November 30th until 7:00 am Saturday, December 1st. CCAD Security monitors the building overnight and no artwork is permitted to enter or exit the building while it is closed.

Table Checks:
At 8:00am on Saturday, December 1, 2018, the event coordinators will visit each table to ensure consistency with juried content and items present at the event. Exhibitors will be asked to remove from the building all items for which they were not juried. Exhibitors who misrepresent themselves (have no work aligning with juried items) will be asked to leave and will forfeit participation in future events.

All Exhibitors must have tables completely set up by 8:00 am on Saturday, December 1, 2018 for table checks.

Exhibitors are limited to a free-standing booth space eight feet wide, five feet deep, and eight feet high (8’ x 5' x 8’). Table options include 5ft, 6ft, or no table (booth only). When exhibitors confirm participation (pay the booth fee) exhibitors also select a table option.  While there are enough tables for all exhibitors, there are limited quantities of specific sizes which are available on a first-come, first-served basis during check-out with Zapplication. Exhibitors who do not select a table will still be provided with one, based on availability. 
All display items must stay within the exhibitor’s assigned 8’ x 5' x 8’ display space. Exhibitors are not permitted to move their table from the booth space or trade spaces with other exhibitors. Exhibitors should be considerate of others; those who do not respect the space of fellow exhibitors will be asked to leave.

Artwork may not be displayed on the walls. Exhibitors must display provided table sign.

All items not removed from the Crane Center at 4 pm on the day of the event will officially become property of CCAD.
