IMAGES

ZAPP JURY PROCESS
Artist jurying takes place in early February. Jurors are professionals, who work as artists, educators and fine art and contemporary gallery owners.

Each juror will be assigned a category(s) to review based on their field(s) of expertise. Images are grouped according to media.

Jurying is anonymous. Images are assigned a code number to ensure that jurors do not know the artist’s name or any identifying details other than what is supplied by the artist. Ratings are based on creativity, uniqueness, concept and craftsmanship of the work in addition to the overall presentation shown in the booth’s image. Jurors will select an appropriate number of artists in their assigned catergory(s), based on scores, to particpate in the fair.

Artist scores are reviewed by Arts Fair leadership, who in turn extend invitations. The number of accepted artists in some media categories may be limited at the discretion of Arts Fair leadership in order to present a balanced show.

NOTIFICATION PROCESS
By March 1, 2019, e-mails will be sent to all artists informing them of their status.  A number of 2018 KIA Arts Fair artists will be re-invited to the 2019 fair as Exempt Artists and will be exempt from the 2019 jury process; however, they will still be required to pay the $35 appliction fee. 2018 category winners will be re-invited with jury exempt status and will not be required to pay the $35 application fee (a coupon code to use on Zapp will be provided to them). They will also be given priority choice for booth assignments. Other booths will be assigned to artists on a first-come, first-served basis as fees are received.

ON-SITE JURY PROCESS
Jurors will be on-site Friday, June 7 to review only the booths in their assigned category(s), which will allow them to spend more time reviewing and speaking with artists.  They will then select one winner in their assigned category(s). Please note that jurors may be assigned more than one category based upon number of artists participating in a certain medium (jurors will be assigned no more than 33 artists each to review), in which case, they will select a winner for each category that they are assigned.
Example: The 3-D Mixed Media/Sculpture/Metal juror will be selecting 2 winners; one for 3-D Mixed Media and one for Sculpture & Metal.

REFUND POLICY
Accepted artists wishing to cancel and receive a booth fee refund must notify Carianne Zomonski at the KIA.  A full refund (minus a $25 administrative fee) will be issued for cancellations received by April 20, 2019. A 50% refund will be issued for cancellations received by May 7, 2019. No refunds will be issued after May 7, 2019.  Application fees are not refundable.

There will be a $35 charge for checks returned due to insufficient funds.

ARTIST LISTINGS
Artists and their booth numbers will be listed in an Arts Fair program that is distributed during the event. Artists will also be listed on the Arts Fair website’s artist guide (with links to artist websites). Select artists will be profiled on the fair’s Facebook page.
