Event Summary

ART & CHALK FEST | JULY 27 & 28, 2019

Art & Chalk Fest features a juried selection of 60+ fine artists selling their work outdoors at the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend on July 27–28, 2019. The festival takes place annually during the last weekend of July. In 2018, the museum welcomed 23,000 visitors. Vendors reported excellent sales for the weekend. Along with the artist booths, Art & Chalk Fest also features chalk artists from across the nation creating ephemeral, pavement masterpieces, and art activities for all ages, live music, food, beer garden, and free admission to the museum. 

MOWA explores the art and culture of Wisconsin. Founded in 1961, the museum’s permanent collection consists of over 5,000 works of contemporary and historic art by more than 350 artists. The 32,000-square-foot facility houses five permanent collection galleries and four temporary exhibition spaces, as well as classrooms, visible art storage, a shop, and a large atrium for public events. MOWA is situated on the banks of the Milwaukee River. The wedge-shaped structure connects to the vibrant downtown shops and restaurants of with a contemporary white footbridge.



General Information
In summer of 2018, MOWA’s surrounding four-acre green spaces transformed into spectacularly landscaped gardens. The gardens at MOWA includes a field for activities and festivals, 800 quaking aspen trees, 1,200 hydrangeas, outdoor sculptures, and interconnected walkways perfect for wayfinding or meandering. It’s a must-see destination in the heart of downtown West Bend.

Three Best of Show honors are awarded for artist booths. Best of Show winners receive a booth space, at no cost, in next year’s festival in addition to a monetary prize. Awards are presented the last day of the festival and booth sitters are provided to the winners during the ceremony.

Rules
  • Artists must furnish or rent their own display equipment, including booth walls (preferably white) and weights. Booth space fee does not include electrical service.
  • Artists can share booths ONLY if application was submitted and accepted that way.
  • Artists must be present in their booth during show hours. Booth sitters are available throughout the festival upon request.
  • Artists must leave a clean space when they depart on Sunday or they will be subject to a fine.
  • Refund Deadline: May 25, 2018, less a $60 administrative fee
Please note that if you are accepted into the show, we will use your submitted photos for marketing purposes.

Available Booth Space: 10x10 for $155 
White booth preferred, no pets allowed

Special circumstances allow Saturday morning setup that must be completed by 8:30 a.m.

Important Dates: 
Application Deadline: February 8, 2019, 11:59 p.m.
Jury Date: February 22, 2019
Email Notification Date to Accepted Artists: No later than March 1, 2019
Booth Fee Deadline: Due by May 4, 2018
If the fee is not received by the deadline, MOWA reserves the right to invite another artist to fill the space


Refund Deadline: May 4, 2019, less a $60 administrative fee. 
AFTER THAT DATE, NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED. JURY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
