Event Summary
Continuing with tradition, the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art is pleased to present the annual Holiday Art Fair, held indoors at Midland Center for the Arts. The Center is transformed into a holiday festival with approximately 80 artists' booths, a Sweet Shop/Bake Sale offering fresh-baked treats, local entertainment and Studio School faculty demonstrations.
The Alden B. Dow Museum is in its 59th year as a visual arts organization and has made the Holiday Art Fair a tradition in the Midland community. The city is home to the world headquarter of The Dow Chemical Company. Its population is augmented by educated and affluent corporate professionals, four regional colleges and a diverse range of citizens.
Proceeds from the fair benefit museum art and science exhibitions, art and science classes, workshops, outreach and other educational programs of the Alden B. Dow Museum, a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to provide a forum to engage the people of mid-Michigan in the constructive and creative expressions found in science and in art.

General Information
ELIGIBILITY:
Before applying, please make sure your work meets the following criteria.  By applying you agree to abide by the rules, policies and decisions of the Alden B. Dow Museum Holiday Art Fair.

The Alden B. Dow Museum Holiday Art Fair presents artists’ handmade original work, not the work of mass production studios. No work which has been made with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans or prefabricated pieces is allowed. The Fair committee reserves the right to refuse exhibition of work not consistent with submitted images and/or these guidelines.

Jewelers must be the designers and hands-on makers of their work. Purchased, facet cut gems may be used. Assembled, prefabricated jewelry is not allowed. Including a process statement would be helpful.

Commercial prints of photographs using non-photographic methods such as 4-color printing or color copy machine are not allowed.

JURY FEE INFORMATION:
$40 Non Refundable Jury Fee for the first category, $5 per additional category/medium (you may apply up to 3 categories in one application). 

BOOTH INFORMATION:
All booths are indoors on brick or carpet at Midland Center for the Arts. Booth spaces are approximately 8’ x 8’ or 10’ x 5’ in size, depending on location. Artist must provide all display equipment including booth set-up, chairs and lighting. Electricity (Electrical outlets are limited) is available to select booths; artists should bring an extension cord if needed. Limited security is provided overnight.

BOOTH FEES:
Non-Museum members: $150 single or $175 corner single booth / $275 double or $300 corner double booth. Museum Members: $125 single or $150 corner single booth/ $225 double or $250 corner double booth.  NOTE: A limited number of double booths are available.  A booth corner allows access to either the right or left side of the booth and the open side.  A corner may or may not be at the end of a row.

ENTRY PROCEDURES:
The jury process is anonymous. A new jury is selected each year comprised of artists, educators, museum professionals and Board representatives. This is a "blind" jury process which means jurors select the artist based solely on the images presented to them without knowledge of the artist name, artist location, or reference to additional information such as websites. Juror decisions are based 100% upon the equality of artwork portrayed in the images. Approximately 90 artists are accepted.
