Event Summary

Set in one of the most beautiful parks in the area, Des Moines Beach Park, this exciting new festival is building momentum in its 2nd year. Northwest Art Alliance, producer of the Best of the Northwest Art & Fine Craft Shows, brings a wide cross section of juried art & crafts to an established Seattle Southside summer festival, Waterland.  Partnering with Destination Des Moines, The Waterland Festival, the City of Des Moines Parks, Recreation and Senior Services Department, and the Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority
There'll be a new destination for art and craft lovers on July 20th and 21st. Come join us!

The Waterland Festival is a beloved SeaFair-sanctioned annual event in the area that goes back to the 1950's.  Over the years, the sponsors have sought to grow the festival in ways that continue to build on this wonderful experience for the community.  After the great response to our inaugural event in 2018, our partners knew it was the right fit and were anxious to bring art and craft to patrons in the area again in 2019. NWAA is delighted to be the partner to help them do just that.

PARTICIPATION RULES: Please note, we will be monitoring during the event to ensure all booths are in compliance with the following:
Artwork must be original, handcrafted work made by the artist(s).
Artists may only show work in the categories in which they were juried and accepted.
Artists may not exhibit or sell the works of other artists.
Artists who work cooperatively on their pieces (like many hot glass artists) may apply under their business name with one artist as the contact person.
Artists must personally attend their booths throughout the show.  We have recently noticed artists sending sales reps to work the booth.  As our reputation has long been built as "art by hands you can shake", we are extremely sensitive on this requirement.

Only US or Canadian-made reproductions are allowed in the categories of 2-D and photography; however, such reproductions cannot be more than 50% of the work displayed or offered for sale at the event.
Artists are expected to comply with all applicable regulations and the NWAA artist agreement.

JEWELRY: Jewelry is an extremely competitive medium. Please note additional specific standards below.
All jewelry must be both designed and made by the artist (no reproductions).
All jewelry work displayed must be of the same quality shown in the juried images.
Commercial components (beads, stones, pearls, etc.) simply strung/assembled or twisted on wire will not be considered (Bead weaving will be considered).
No more than 50% of a piece may consist of commercial findings. The major impact of the piece must be the original work of the artist.

Artists may share a booth, as long as each artist has applied individually and has been juried and accepted. When sharing a booth, one artist has to be responsible for the fees associated with the booth being shared.

BOOTH SUBLETTING: Booth subletting is not allowed.

Load-in for the event will be on Friday, July 19th.  It will begin at 2pm and be available until 8pm.  There will be overnight security on site.  Artists wanting to load-in on Saturday morning will need to make arrangments with event management to do so, as another event in the park will require coordination.  Any Saturday off-loading must be complete and artists' cars moved to their parking location by 9:00 AM.  This is a requirement of our agreement with the Parks Dept.  Set-up must be complete by 9:30 for opening at 10:00 AM.

Load-out must be complete within 4 hours of the close of the event - 8:00 PM July 21st.

Canopies are required, including tent walls.  All canopies must be weighted.  20 pounds minimum per leg is mandatory! Canopies not properly weighted will be asked to break down and leave the event.

Booth Information
This event will have 10x10 booth spaces available for purchase.  NWAA is looking for booths that are aesthetically pleasing and attractive to patrons.  A booth shot will be requested in the application so that NWAA can get a sense of how you present your work.  Should you want / require a larger booth size, please contact us to discuss.

Artists may share a booth as long as each artist has applied separately and is accepted. If you wish to share a booth, one artist has to be responsible for the fees associated with the booth they are sharing.
