Emerging Artist Policy: To be eligable for the Dedrick Dandelion Fellowship, an artist must be considered an emerging artist. The Lilac Lagoon Art Festival defines this as an artist who:
  • Has been participating in art shows for under three years
  • Provides a written statement explaining their journey into the art world
  • Is unrepresented by a critic, gallery, or other art agency

Lilac Lagoon Art Festival is juried by world-renowned members of PFEJ (Perennials For Effective Jurying). All artists are reviewed by members of the PFEJ committee on high-res monitors. Once an artist's work is reviewed, the Festival will hold a projected jury from February 16, 2019 to February 18, 2019 in compliance with PFEJ's policy for focused jurors. Round 1 is held on February 16 and 17. Round 2 is held on February 18. Artists remain anonymous and the order of the jury is randomized within categories. All artists will be contacted with Jury results no later than February 21, 2019. All artists will be provided with the jurors scoresheet regardless of acceptance to the festival to encourage artistic development.

Waitlist Policy: The Festival maintains a 25 person waitlist. In the event that an invited artist is unable to make it within two weeks of the show, members of the waitlist will be contacted and offered a spot at the festival.

Recipients of Lilac Lagoon Art Festival 2018 awards and fellowships are Exempt from Jury and will be contacted directly by the show for next steps.

Event Information

Comprehensive booth information can be found in our booth section.
During the show, jurors provided by PFEJ will be scoring booths for Lilac Lagoon awards and fellowships. If, at this time, any artist is found to be showing work in a category they were not judged in they will be asked to put away their unapproved work.

On May 17, 2019, the Festival will host its annual celebration. All artists are asked to attend the first hour of the show. Award winners will be presented with their awards at this time and be present afterwards for questions.

Lilac Lagoon Watercolor Award: $5,000 grant for watercolor artists. Can be used for professional development, supplies, or activities within the field.
Christi Columbine Award: $4,000 - all artists are eligable.
Dedrick Dandelion Fellowship: Specifically for emerging artists, this fellowship, worth $19,000, is a full year working as part of the Dedrick Dandelion art institute and provides hands on experience creating commissioned work for a variety of industries.
Lilac Lagoon Best in Show (5): $1,000 per artist and an automatic invitation to our private gallery greenhouse showing in December and to the Lilac Lagoon Art Festival 2020.

This festival takes place outdoors but, should it rain, the trees always move to shield the festival and its artwork from damage.

1. All work must be original, handcrafted work. Artist guarantees all work is their own. Any artist found to be in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the the festival and will be ineligable for a refund.
2. No more than 5 artists may contribute to any given piece of work. All must be listed in the same application to be admitted to the festival.
3. Artists must be present at the festival all four days. If participating with contributing artists, all must attend or provide a statement regarding their contribution to the work and that they release the items for sale. Photo identification will be required at the gate.
4. Contributors may display work on their Contributor Extension for sale. They are not eligable to win awards or fellowships.
