Event Summary

The 28th Annual Powderhorn Art Fair (PAF) is a Fine Arts and Fine Crafts Upper Midwest Regional Art Fair. Set in Powderhorn Park, a pastoral 66-acre city park, 190 artists circle around the tree-lined Powderhorn Lake. This art fair is a collaboration between the Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association (PPNA) and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB). Proceeds from the Powderhorn Art Fair go toward programs that help strengthen the community.

The Powderhorn Art Fair attracts artists from more than twenty states and 200 cities making it a local and regional favorite. The fair’s success comes from the long-standing collaboration between PPNA & MPRB.

General Information

The Powderhorn Art Fair uplifts and supports local artists. There are separate areas from the Main Exhibitors for local artists that includes a Community Showcase, Group Exhibitors and Youth Showcase.  


An indoor artists' lounge is available in the park building and open only to showing artists, staff and volunteers. It includes air conditioning, free food and beverages, indoor restrooms and is ADA compliant. There is also a convenience tent for artists' offering water and coffee in the Northwest area of the park.

Volunteer booth sitters are available and will make every effort to offer booth coverage to all artists.


Medium Categories: Clay, Digital Art, Drawing, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metal, Mixed Media, Painting, Paper, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Wood (PAF does not accept crafts such as dried flowers, soap, candles, etc)

  • PAF uses a “blind” jury of 3 judges. The judges do not know the name of artists they review. Judges score based on Impact, Style/Design, and Technical Skill.
  • Jury Fee for each category entered: $35 (non-refundable)
  • 4 Artwork Images required (No Booth Image required)

  • Larger Booth Fee: $50 (15 wide x 11 deep) (optional) separate payment required

There are no refunds of booth fees after confirming our invitation to exhibit.

  • On Saturday during the fair, judges will review artists work on-site. Scores will determine award recipients and the corresponding participation incentive to next year’s show.
  • First, Second, Third Place, Honorable Mention, and Spirit of Powderhorn recipients will be invited back with jury and booth fee waived (large booth fee extra).
  • 20 invitational award winners will be invited back with jury fee waived but must pay a booth fee.



  1. All work must be original, designed and created by the accepted artist as represented by work in the submitted visual samples. Work made with the use of commercial kits, molds including greenware or is mass produced, will not be accepted.  Absolutely no buy/sell items.
  2. The selected artist’s presence is required on site for the entire show.
  3. If your work reflects and constitutes more than one category, you must apply separately in each category. Each category will be juried separately and require its own jury fee. You can not jury into more than one category and you can not present more than one medium in your booth. A single booth fee will be required for the category you are juried into.
  4. Main Exhibitors must be 18 years of age or older.
  5. Only one booth space per artist is allowed. Artists may share a booth only if the work is truly collaborative and within the same artistic medium. No double booths.
  6. Artists must have their own 10 x 10 Tent  
  7. 45 lbs weights for each leg to stabilize tents in case of severe weather 
  8. Artists must have a Minnesota Tax ID number.
  9. Artists must fill out an ST-19 form and hand it to the traffic team upon your Friday arrival

  • Artists are provided with an 11 x 11-foot space on grass around and most adjacent to the lake. One booth space per accepted artist. No double booths.
  • There are a limited number of larger booth spaces (15 x 11) available, depending on park conditions, for an additional $50 fee.
  • PAF will no longer take specific booth request. We will accept a zone preference though these selections cannot be guaranteed. Refer to the map located here to identify available zones. Please indicate the corresponding zone number in the appropriate field within the application. If any other language outside of the zone letter is submitted your request will not be considered.
  • Display units should be designed for outside use and capable of withstanding the elements. All artist must have the proper weights and equipment
  • The presentation must be primarily and reasonably contained in the designated booth space.
  • Artists may drive into the park on paved paths and onto the grass area to their booth space for loading & unloading. All booth spaces are on the grass near the lake. Please be mindful and come prepared to address uneven ground conditions. We will no longer attempt to find an alternative location based on uneven ground conditions.
