Event Summary
The Rivertown Fall Art Festival has been popular and well attended in the Midwest, attracting more than 10,000 people from MN and Western WI. Located in beautiful historic downtown Stillwater along the scenic St. Croix River, this popular event features over 150 artisans showcasing specialty hand-crafted items. This juried show includes artist mediums of all kinds including paper, painting, pottery, metal, wood and jewelry.

Over 150 Artists participated in the 2018 Rivertown Fall Art Festival and we expect this popular Fall Art Festival to continue to grow!  Returning will be the beer & wine tent, live music overlooking the beautiful St. Croix River, and a variety of food selections.

Judges for Artists’ Awards will be selected by the festival committee. The criteria for judging includes: originality; balanced presentation; overall quality, including skill and craftsmanship; attention to fundamentals, including color, texture and composition; creative use of materials; and professionalism. 

  • Check-in is Friday from 12:00 noon to 7 p.m. or Saturday from 6:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. Times will be assigned closer to the event.
  • All vehicles must be out of the event area by 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
  • There will be no power provided for artists.  Exhibiting Artists may not use generators.
  • All artists should expect to be located on the grass. Exceptions may be made for art demos approved by the festival committee.
  • Participants must complete setup prior to 9 a.m. and to remain open until closing. No early teardowns.
  • Each artist is responsible for providing and assembling his or her own booth.
  • Only one artist per space; however, one artist may request and pay for more than one space.
  • Booth spaces are approximately 10’ x 10’ or the equivalent.
  • Artists must be willing to adjust to their assigned space.
  • The festival committee reserves the right of final placement in the park.
  • Artists must be present during show hours.
  • Booth-sitters will be available for breaks.
  • Early break-down may result in ineligibility for judging, awards or participation in future festivals.
    • Artists are responsible for proper insurance and protention of work and set-up. Festival is not responsible for loss or damages.
  • Onlly small stakes are available on park grounds. Booth sandbags or other appropriate wind resistance is required as a safety precaution. A minimum weight of 40 lbs. per corner pole is required. Do not leave a tent that is unweighted for any reason. You will be asked to leave the festival if your booth is not secured; no refund will be issued. 
  • The city does not permit overnight parking in Lowell Park. The city will be enforcing this rule so please plan accordingly. 
  • The Stillwater Police will patrol the event grounds several times throughout the day, and we have hired overnight Security, Friday and Saturday night. Chamber and night watchmen are not liable for theft or property damage.
  • Due to possible flooding the event may be moved to parking lots and/or streets.

Artists will be notified via email regarding status of their application by the festival committee. Notification may include artist acceptance, rejection or placement on a wait list. Accepted partcipants will also be posted on the Rivertown Fall Art Festival website at www.rivertownfallartfestival.com several days before the event.  Results will not be released by phone.

Booth Information

Single 10 x 10 Artist Booth Fee  = $260
Double 10 x 20 booth = $475
Corner booth (limited) = $35

Once artist is accepted and paid, NO refunds will be given.

Reminder: GROUND STAKES | WEIGHTS No stakes are allowed on the park grounds. Booth sandbags or other appropriate wind resistance is required as a safety precaution. A minimum weight of 40 lbs. per corner pole is required. No cement blocks may be used for weights. Do not leave a tent that is set up, unweighted for any reason. You will be asked to leave the festival if your booth is not secured; no refund will be issued.

Set-up: You will be required to drop items off at a loading zone, unload all items, and move your vehicle to the designated parking area. You can then return to set-up. DO NOT, under any circumstances, keep your vehicle parked in front of designated location for longer than it takes to unload. You will be asked to move your vehicle if it is there too long.  NOTE: Driving and parking on the lawn is prohibited. Please be considerate to your neighboring vendors. Event staff is there to assist you.

Tear-down: You will be required to disassemble your tent and put away all goods inside your tent before you are given an OK to retrieve your vehicle. Once given the OK, your vehicle is allowed in the event area (ZONES) to load your materials and then depart.  Please obey the one-way lanes for ease of gathering your materials and exiting.
