Event Summary
The 2019 Texas Arts & Crafts Fair, will be on the Hill Country Arts Foundation’s 13-acre campus in Ingram, Texas, just west of Kerrville.
The event is restricted to Texas artists and craftsmen.
Regular Application Deadline is June 3, 2019. Approximately 75p of available spaces will be filled during the first jurying period. Applicants on the Wait List may be reconsidered depending on spaces available.
 
This “official” state arts festival fe a wide range of juried arts and crafts, as well as favorite fair food offerings, entertainment and related educational and recreational activities.

Against a backdrop of the scenic Guadalupe River, between 2,000-4,000 attendees are expected.
The fair is produced by the Hill Country Arts Foundation, with facilities featuring an impressive 500-seat outdoor amphitheater, a 1,700-square foot art gallery overlooking Johnson Creek, three art instruction studios, a printmaking studio and a ceramics studio with four kilns. Since 1959, the HCAF has provided community theatre, art workshops, art exhibitions, and visual and performing arts classes. Additionally, HCAF has become a top-ranked tourist destination with the addition of the Stonehenge II art installation.

General Information
Jury Information and Policies
  1. Our panel consists of jurors selected based on their specific interests, professional knowledge and/or background with the Texas Arts & Crafts Fair and the Hill Country Arts Foundation.
  2. Judges have access to the artist's statement but are not shown the artist's name or any other identifying information. Please do not include your name or any identifying information in your submitted images.
  3. Submissions will be ranked on a 1-to-5 scale.
  4. Texas Arts & Crafts Fair staff members are not voting members of the jury and their opinions are not reflected in final scores.
 
Amenities
  • Ingram Police Department and Kerr County Sheriff’s Department officers provide 24-hour security beginning prior to load-in through complete load-out.
  • Discounted artists’ rates at partner hotel in Ingram.
  • Exhibitor hospitality area and restrooms.
  • Dedicated exhibitor parking in the lot on HCAF grounds, to the left as you enter.
  • Secure weekend parking for trailers and RVs.

  • Admission: adults $10 students $5; children under 12 free.

Categories:
  • Apothecary: soaps, lotions, etc.
  • Ceramics:  Original clay and porcelain work. Jewelry is not included in this category. Each piece must be signed.
  • Culinary arts
  • Digital computer art:  Submissions executed by an artist using a computer, with an original image and/or manipulation of other source material. Work in this category must be in limited editions, signed and numbered on archival quality materials. Traditional photography is not included in this category. Photos taken through a digital media should apply in the photography category. 
  • Drawing/Pastels:  This category includes submissions in chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax crayon, etc. or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush.
  • Fiber:  Wearable or non-wearable work created from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry and papermaking.
  • Glass:  No mass production is permitted.
  • Jewelry:  Submissions may include work produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, plastic or other materials.
  • Metal: This category includes non-sculptural, non-jewelry submissions crafted from metals.
  • 2D Mixed Media:  Category includes work that incorporates more than one type of physical material in their production, with one or more of the following: Paint, pencil, watercolor, photography, printmaking or drawing.
  • 3D Mixed Media:  Category includes work that incorporates more than one type of physical material in their production, with more than one of the following: clay work, fiber, glass, metal, wood, or any other 3-D objects.
  • Painting - Oil/Acrylic: Works created in oil or acrylic. Numbered and signed prints are allowed.
  • Painting - Watercolor:  Work created in watercolor. Numbered and signed prints are allowed.
  • Photography:  Photographic prints made from the artist's original image, which have been processed by that artist, or under his or her direct supervision, are included in this category. Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing processes on prints which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition.
  • Printmaking/Graphics:  Hand-pulled prints in which the artist manipulated the plates, stones or screens and which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition. Photocopy and/or offset reproductions will be rejected. Printmakers are encouraged to do their own printing which has been processed by the artist, or under his/her direct supervision.  Printmakers are required to disclose both their creative and printmaking processes.
  • Sculpture:  Three-dimensional works done in any medium.
  • Wood:  Original works in wood that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved are accepted in this category.

Rules/Regulations

  1. VERY IMPORTANT - The Texas Arts & Crafts Fair is open only to Texas artists. Proof of residence may be required. Artists must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
  2. No work by apprentices or employees will be accepted. Commercial agents, dealers, or manufacturers are not eligible to enter. No kits, molds, tumbled stones, embellished objects or edible art may be submitted.
  3. Artists may jury in up to 2 categories per artist profile, but not with the same body of work. Only one application may be submitted per body of work with a jury fee for each category. Artists whose work is selected in multiple categories will exhibit in one booth space.
  4. Only artists accepted in the jewelry category may display or sell jewelry.
  5. All artists must be present on site during the entire festival. A picture ID is required at time of check in.
  6. Corner and double/triple booths are limited and will be available on ZAPP on a first-come, first-served basis starting the day invitation emails are sent. Though we cannot guarantee all artists will receive their booth location choice, we make every effort to place the artist in the general location that is requested. Instructions on how to request a booth location will be included in the invitation email.
  7. Artists must define a “limited edition” through their artist statement.
  8. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production are permitted. No factory-produced wearable items, regardless of additional modification or enhancement by the artist, may be exhibited.
  9. No commercial casts, molds or production studio work is allowed.
  10.  Posters and t-shirts are not allowed.
  11. Hanging work must be suitably framed. Prints must be matted and displayed in a suitable portfolio or stand.
  12.  Sales tax in the City of Ingram is 8.25 percent. Participating exhibitors are responsible for collecting and paying current city and state sales tax for all sales made during the show.
  13.  One exhibitor is allowed per booth showing the medium that was juried into the festival. Shared space is not allowed.
  14.  Artists must comply with all staff and uniformed security regarding site safety and regulations. Vehicles must be parked only in designated areas; noncompliance will result in elimination from consideration for any future fairs.
  15. The Texas Arts & Crafts Fair does not allow galleries or artist’s representatives to exhibit at the fair.
  16.  The Texas Arts & Crafts Fair does not collect commissions on sales.
  17.  Fair Hours: Sept. 28-29, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Times subject to change).
  18.  Exhibit space is approximately 10’ x 10’ (Limited double and triple spaces are available). Spaces will be available under tents provided by the Fair. Climate-controlled indoor exhibit spaces are also available in the visual arts gallery, with specific set-up constraints.
  19. A limited number of “pop-up” spaces will be available to exhibitors who wish to set up their own tents in the open air. Slides of this booth presentation are required.
  20. Booth display must match submitted booth shot. Display in the slide should match your display at the show in the approximate proportion of number and price point of works. Types of work not present in the booth slide will not be permitted at the show, nor will disproportionately larger amounts of any one body or type of work.
  21.  The use of panel risers or extenders to increase height is not permitted. The use of “appendages;” i.e., extra display panels that do not appear in your booth slide at jury and those which encroach upon public and/or artists’ spaces, will not be permitted.
  22. Exceptions to any of the above may be requested after acceptance of invitation. All exceptions must be in place at least 30 days prior to the festival and will be documented by festival staff with approval by the Event Director.
  23.  Disputes that result in an artist being disqualified from appearing at our show will result in a 100% refund of booth fee (not jury fee) provided that disqualification occurs before the artist’s appointed load-in time. Disqualifications that arise after the show opens will not be accorded refunds, and the artist shall have no recourse.
  24.  While every effort will be made to conduct the Fair under these rules and regulations, The Texas Arts & Crafts Fair reserves the right to make changes to the rules and regulations at their discretion.
  25. Refunds/cancellations: The application fee is non-refundable. Booth fees are due and payable within 14 days of being notified of acceptance as an exhibitor. An accepted artist who fails to exhibit forfeits all fees.

Booths are available in large, outdoor “festival” tents, and in a limited number of indoor, climate-controlled space. “Pop-up” tents supplied by the artist will be available only after other booths are filled. All booth locations will be assigned by the fair event director. Spaces are in multiples of 10’ X 10.’
For corner booth spaces, add $50 to the booth fee listed below.
 
Electricity – Is available and included in the Booth Fee for spaces in the festival tents and in the Gallery. Limited electrical access is available for pop-up tents. Artists should specify whether they require electricity.
