Event Summary

The thirteenth annual Art in Autumn Outdoor Arts and Crafts Festival takes place Saturday, September 21, 2019, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Weaverville, North Carolina, located in Buncombe county 7 miles from downtown Asheville. Sponsored by the Weaverville Business Association, the festival features 114 juried artists and craftspeople and live music. In recent years, Weaverville has established itself as a culturally rich destination point, with its now well-established street festival each September. It has earned a reputation for its quaint atmosphere, artistic spirit, and distinctive shops and restaurants. The annual Art in Autumn festival brings a jovial celebration of community and fine art and craft to the Main Street of this lovely small town. All are welcome. Admission and parking are free.

Application fee is $25. If invited to this show, booth fee is $135.

An esteemed judge from the Asheville area art and craft community is selected by the Art in Autumn committee each year to judge the booths on the day of the show.

This festival was established in 2007 by a committed group of business owners who are deeply rooted in the Art and Craft fair business. Each year the Weaverville community comes together and hosts a street festival which is widely anticipated and supported by the greater Asheville community. A top notch group of volunteers is ready to assist artists with booth set-up, booth relief and breakdown.

Advertising includes billboards, public radio, and widely distributed print media.

Festival is run by show veterans who are well acquainted with the process of exhibiting at art and craft fairs.

A team of volunteers are on site to help artists unload and set up booths for easy unloading, set-up and breakdown. It is important to us that your experience is as stress-free as possible!

Active facebook and social media postings with artist profiles leading up to the show each week prior to the show, once jurying is complete.


ELIGIBILITY: All applicants must submit 4 images of their work and participate in jury process. 3 images must reflect current work of excellent quality by artists and must be original.  One booth shot is required. No critique will be given. Application deadline is June 15, and invited artists will receive notification by July 1.

- Exhibitors must register with the NC Department of Revenue and obtain a sales tax identification number. Exhibitors are responsible for collecting and paying the required 7% sales tax.  Call the NC Department of Revenue at 1-877-252-3052, or check the NC Department of Revenue website at http://www.dornc.com/faq/sales.html#registration for sales tax information.  Art in Autumn is required to provide the NCDOR with a list of our exhibitors.  They will come to the Fair to register anyone who has not done so in advance.   

Booth Information
Booth spaces will be limited to 114 artists.  Spaces are 10'x10'. Art in Aumtumn will be held on Main St in Weaverville on an asphalt surface. Some areas may be uneven. Also booths will be arranged back to back and there is no storage behind booth so artists should plan accordingly. Invited artists will be notified of booth space, location and arrival instructions upon acceptance of invitation and payment of booth space.

Hours: Hours of the show are 10am to 6pm. Set-up time begins at 6 am. Exhibitors will receive instructions regarding set-up, breakdown and parking upon arrival in Weaverville the morning of the festival. Assistance is also available for timely set-up of tent and booth upon arrival. Exhibitors MUST register before 9 a.m. and must be in the process of setting up their booth, with all vehicles out of the show area.

Breakdown: After breakdown (including tent), exhibitors will receive permission to get vehicle and exit the show. All exhibitor booths must be removed by 8 p.m.

Restrictions: No animals or vehicles are allowed in the exhibitor area during show hours. Animals may not be left in untattended parked vehicles. No alcohol is allowed on town property at any time. Disturbing foliage or nailing anything to telephone poles, trees or buildings is prohibited.
