Event Summary

The Saginaw Old Town Art Fair is located in the historic Riverfront District of Saginaw, Michigan. Our Art Fair sits amidst historical architecture, established and supportive local businesses, and a vibrant art and music scene.  The City of Saginaw leads the Great Lakes Bay Region in medical technology development, practitioner education and standard of care. Home to Saginaw Valley State University, Delta Community College, and Central Michigan University Medical School.  Saginaw is a diverse community that welcomes all.
 

Our mission is to provide the opportunity for artists to showcase a breadth of fine art and craft in the heart of Old Town Saginaw, while community members view and purchase artwork, participate in free activities, and see live demonstrations and performances.  These will all draw patrons to the fair.
 

The Saginaw Old Town Art Fair is a newer show (this is our second year) that is filling the void of a fine art fair in Saginaw for almost 20 years.  We are excited to welcome artists to our town and offer our hospitality. We are working very hard to make sure it is well attended and a profitable opportunity for artists.

ADVERTISING

The Saginaw Old Town Art Fair has developed key partnerships with local businesses and media outlets to effectively and comprehensively advertise the event. Target mediums include regional radio, social media, and print publications. Additionally, our event is promoted in regional and state news outlets, posters throughout the Great Lakes Bay Community, in newsletters of participating charitable organizations, the Saginaw Art Fair facebook page, and all major social media outlets.

 

After acceptance and submission of booth fee, we will feature a participating artist each day leading up to the art fair on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) @SaginawArtFair We will post at least one picture from the application with the artist name and category.  We will advertise each artists participation prior to the event.

 

ARTIST AMENITIES

- There is $1000.00 in prize money for artists. (And we will work to secure more.)

- Awards will be given for each media category, where excellence is determined.

- Award ribbons are presented to winning artists Saturday morning.

- Winners will receive online recognition.

- Convenient drive-up load-in and load-out at booth space. We will also have volunteers available to help unload vehicles if needed/requested.

- Free exhibitor parking in close proximity to display space, includes oversized parking and overnight parking.

- Overnight security provided.

- Room block rates available at Ramada Saginaw Hotel & Inn. Room rates start at $79 for Friday, August 9th.  The Block is set up under Saginaw Old Town Art Fair.  The discounted rates are available until 7/10/19.

- Room block rates also available at Marriott Hotels. Room rates start at $99 at TownePlace Suites, $99 at SpringHill Suites, and $109 for the King Suite and $119 for the One Bedroom at the Residence Inn.

- Friday Night Artists’ Reception.

 

WITHDRAW/CANCELLATION

- Deadline for cancellation is June 14, 2019, minus a $25 processing fee.

- Upon acceptance, booth fees are not refundable. No refunds, for any reason, after June 14, 2019.



Rules/Regulations

ELIGIBILITY

All work must be the creation of the exhibiting artist: the original concept design, style and execution must be attributable solely to the displaying artist(s). All work on display must be consistent with the images submitted. Artists must be 18 years of age or older.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

By submitting your application to the Saginaw Old Town Art Fair, you agree to abide by all festival rules and regulations. All artwork exhibited and sold must be original and of the artist’s own creation.

- Applicants must include an artist statement or technical description of your artwork of 1000 characters or less. The description should include information that assists the jury process and/or promotional efforts of the festival committee.  

- All artists must submit 5 images with their application, including one booth shot.
 

COMMERCIAL PRODUCTS

- No BUY/SELL ITEMS are allowed in the show.

- Only hand-constructed wares are to be sold. No commercial products are permitted.

- The registered exhibitor must have constructed the majority of each item.

- Show staff may investigate questionable wares; if found to be commercial items, you will be asked to remove those items found in violation and/or removed from the show with NO REFUND.

 

EXPECTATIONS

- No commercial agents, dealers or manufacturers may attend in place of the artist.

- All work displayed must be consistent with slides submitted. Any work that is not consistent with the jury images, or does not comply with the standards outlined, may not be exhibited.

- Artist may not leave the festival early.

 

RESELLING BOOTHS

Booths may NOT be resold by a crafter/artisan at any time. Any indication of a resold booth will result in permanent termination from the current and future shows with no refund.

 

SALES

Artists are responsible for the collection, reporting and payment of all State of Michigan taxes. Saginaw Old Town Art Fair does not require an artist to pay commissions.

 

SECURITY

- Merchandise is left overnight at your own risk.

- The festival will provide limited overnight security on Friday night.

- You may leave your booth structure intact overnight. We advise you choose a weatherproof structure with weights.

- The Saginaw Old Town Art Fair is not responsible for any damages or losses that may occur during these two days.
 

SHOW STAFF & ARTIST PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

It should go without saying that there is an expectation of civility, patience and common courtesy at this event. It is our wish that every exhibitor, art patron and volunteer have an enjoyable experience at the Saginaw Old Town Art Fair. When accepting the invitation to exhibit, the Artist agrees to abide by all rules of the Saginaw Old Town Art Fair, the City of Saginaw, and State of Michigan. Artist agrees to follow load-in, load-out and parking procedures as well as general festival rules of participation. Exhibitors are expected to cooperate with festival staff and volunteers and be courteous to their neighboring exhibitors. Artists who disrespect or mistreat volunteers, staff, or fellow artists will not be invited back to exhibit at this festival in the future.

BOOTH INFORMATION & FEES

Single Booth: 10’ x 10’ = $100.00  

$25.00 Nonrefundable Application Fee + $75.00 Booth Fee

Double Booth: 20’ x 10’ = $175.00  

$25.00 Nonrefundable Application Fee + $150.00 Booth Fee

 

BOOTH SPACES

- Booths are located on pavement and only guaranteed a front opening space. Booths may NOT be staked into pavement. Please bring proper weights (at least 40 lbs each corner) to weigh your booth space down.  

- We measure single booth spaces out to 12’x12’ to allow artists space between booths.

- Artists may request a booth space, in reference to the booth space map. All booths, regardless of size, are assigned on a first paid, first served basis by the festival Art Director.  Request will be taken into consideration, but not guaranteed.

- Participants must provide their own canopy, display booth, display racks, lights, extension cords, and any booth support materials. No tables or chairs will be provided.

- Electricity is available upon request, free of charge.

SET-UP INFORMATION

- All participants must set-up for the festival Friday morning.  

- Set up begins at 6:30 a.m. Artists should be ready for the festival opening at 11:00 a.m.

- Court Street Booth space will have assigned time.  Booths 11-22 will unload vehicles first (6:30-7), booths 1-10 and 23-34 will need to arrive and unload vehicles (7-7:30).

- Artists who need additional time or assistance for set up can contact the Art Fair Director with requests.

- We will have volunteers available to help artists with set up and unloading.
