Event Summary
Our Juried Fine Arts Festival is celebrating its 48th Anniversary this May!  Join us around the historic court square in downtown Tupelo for a weekend celebration of the visual and performing arts!  The GumTree Festival is a Tupelo tradition for Northeast Mississippi falling on Mother's Day weekend, May 10-11, 2019.  We have an exciting new Preview Party on Friday night and musical offerings that are sure to make this one fine festival! 


General Information

GENERAL INFORMATION

The GumTree Festival is celebrating its 48th year in 2019. The Gumtree Festival is a celebration of the visual and performing arts around the Old Courthouse in Downtown Tupelo. It is put on by The GumTree Museum of Art also in downtown Tupelo.  There have been some changes to the schedule, so if you have shown with GumTree before, please take note of our added event Friday night and our hours on Saturday.  We will have the Artist's Breakfast and Awards Ceremony on Sunday, but due to artists' requests, we will not have festival hours on Sunday.

Noon - 5:00  Registration and Set up 
5:00 - 7:00 - Preview Party / Artists are encouraged to be open for New Preview Party Night (Buffet style dinner & Grab & Go plates will be made availabe near Admin Tent from 5:00 - 7:00                    
5:00 - 8:00 Live Blues Music around the Court Square 

Saturday, May 11

7:00 - 8:30 - Early Bird Artist's Breakfast (optional) 
9:00 - 6:00 - Festival Hours
6:00 - 8:00 - Cocktail Hour for Artists with Live Music around the Court Square

Sunday, May 12
9:00 - 10:00 - Artist Breakfast and Awards 
10:00 - Artists' Farewell and turn in Exit Packets

FEES

Jury fee: $35.00 non-refundable. Due at the time of application. 
 
Booth Fee: $225 for single booth, $450 for double booth (limited availability) .
 
Booth space is 10’ x 10’.

Artists must provide their own display booths, tents, weights to anchor tents, racks, tables, and chairs. They are responsible for the assembly and disassembly of all items. Prepare for the possibility of inclement weather conditions such as wind and rain.


ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS

Complete the art vendor application and pay non-refundable application fee by Apr. 15th, 2019

Submit five (6) images of your current work. A Booth shot is required. 

Artist will be notified March 11, 2019 "Accepted," "Denied," or "Waitlisted"

If "Invited" go through ZAPP to confirm your participation in the festival and purchase your booth space.  
 
Please Note: artist may arrive, register and begin setting up their booths on Friday, May 10th at noon.  Free parking is available.  

If notified "Waitlisted" we will inform you through ZAPP if/ when a space is open.  You would then need to go through ZAPP to accept participation in the festival and purchase your booth.


DEADLINES FOR ARTISTS

JAN 25 - FEB 28, 2019: Applications available

FEB 28, 2019: All applications and jury fees due

MAR 8, 2019: Panel of Jurors review and select applicants

MAR 11, 2019: Applicants notified, "Accepted", "Denied" or "Waitlisted"

***April 15th, 2019: DEADLINE:  Accept/Purchase invitation to GT Festival*** Deadline to accept invitation and purchase booth space.


JURYING

The selection panel will be made up of prominent representatives in the artist community.  The panel selects exhibitors who best reflect creativity, quality, and originality in their overall body of work. Selection is based solely on the submitted jpeg images. An artist accepted to show may only display work reflected in the images submitted for jurying. 


PRIZE MONEY & JUDGING

Prize money will be available for artistic excellence. All judging will take place on site on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Artistic awards are determined by the consensus of the juror.

Independent jurors are invited each year to evaluate the work of the artists in the festival and select the awards and Best in Show. On-site awards are given for outstanding work in each category on Sunday morning at awards ceremony.

Rules/Regulations

RULES & STANDARDS

 80% of the entry fee will be refunded through Apr.15th, 2019 with a written request on or before this April 15th deadline.

***Only artists accompanying their original work may participate in the festival.  ABSOLUTELY no mass produced item and/or item crafted, constructed or created by someone other than the artist juried into the festival will be accepted- artists who are found to have fraudulent artwork exhibited will be asked to leave/removed promptly from the premisis.***

Artists must exhibit the full hours of the festival. Artists are required to man their exhibits during festival hours: Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Artists are encouraged to participate in the new Preview Party Friday night, but participation is optional.  Friday, May 10, 5:00 - 7:00) 

Artists bear the responsibility for all setup and security needs for their exhibit. The festival will not be responsible for loss or damage of any kind.

Booth space is a maximum of 10’ x 10’.

Artists must provide their own display booths, tents, weights to anchor tents, racks, tables, and chairs. They are responsible for the assembly and disassembly of all items. Prepare for the possibility of inclement weather conditions such as wind and rain.

Booth space cannot be shared, but one artist may purchase more than one booth.

Artists retain 100% of their sales and are responsible for reporting their own taxes. Sales Taxes must be paid to the State of Miss. and the City of Tupelo (total of 7.25%). Tax forms will be included in the registration packet.

75% of the work displayed in each booth must be for sale at the festival.


** The GumTree Museum of Art reserves the right to prevent an artist from displaying work that is not representative of the images originally accepted by the jury. GTF, Inc. reserves the right to make final interpretations of all rules.
