Event Summary

Discover Amazing works of Fine Art during the Cars & Colors Festival Weekend!

Going on it's 5th year, the Telluride Festival of Cars and Colors is the embodiment of the classic Concours d'Elegance which has become a world class celebration for automobile aficionados and life style enthusiasts set in the town of Telluride, Colorado.

Now for it's 2nd year it will also host some of the best Fine Arts/Sculpture, & Photography in the country at the Heritage Plaza which is located in the heart of Mountain Village, steps away from the free Gondola, the Cars & Colors Lounge and the spectacular vehicles on the Telluride golf course. A special and absolutely beautiful location that all will enjoy.
 
The Fine Arts event prides itself by including only high caliber one of a kind booths where Car lovers and Art lovers alike will find jewelry, painting, photography, ceramics, metalwork, glass and much, much more. The space is limited to only a select group of 40 artists booths.
 
Telluride is one of the most upscale locations in the US and we are very honored to be hosting  the first and only Fine Arts Festival of it's kind In Mountain Village.

Artists are selected through a competitive jury process by Art Professionals keeping each medium totally different within it's own category.

 
 


General Information
 
We have an ongoing Jury that meets once a month starting the end of May and Juries by Category.
SHOW DIRECTOR’S SUGGESTION: Because we have very limited booth space, We recommend that you apply EARLY as the show and/or most categories will fill quickly. Upon receiving an invitation to participate in the show, you will need to submit your booth fee immediately to secure your space in the show. Simply ACCEPTING on Zapp will not secure your space in the show. Please note that your invitation email may go to your SPAM folder, so it is in your best interest to check your status on Zapp or check your SPAM folder. Due to the deadline being so close to the show date, the show will most likely be closed prior to the deadline. PLEASE NOTE that we keep a WAIT LIST on a category basis.
Telluride is one of the most upscale locations in the US and we are very honored to be hosting an art festival in this beautiful valley.

Venue: 
All artist vendor areas will be held outside but under a commercial grade tent (which we provide). Heritage Plaza in the heart of Mountain Village, The Heritage Plaza location is at 9545 feet in elevation and inclement weather in the mountains is possible. Telluride Festival of Cars & Colors is a “Rain or Shine” event. No refunds will be given for inclement weather.

Public Admission: The Arts festival is free; Artists will also receive 2 complementary 4 day Exhibitor Festival Passes to enjoy the Cars and Colors event. $300.00 value

Parking:

Special Festival RV Parking is available.

If you are accepted in the event then you may sign up for one of the Festival RV parking spaces for an additional $50 flat fee, information included in your acceptance letter.

These sites are primitive (NO SERVICES: NO Dumping, NO Electric, NO Water, NO Trash Receptacles) so RV’s must be self contained for your length of stay.  Space is limited and spots must be reserved prior to the Festival (by 9/23/19).  RV’s may be parked from Wednesday evening (Sept 25) to Monday morning (Sept 30).

LODGING
Lodging options to fit most budgets. Book early for the best pricing.
The Town of Telluride also has a ‘first come-first serve’ campground in Town Park. You may also check out lodging options on our website (www.CarsAndColors.com) for information on Camping and Lodging options.
Camping is not allowed in booth spaces. Camping is also not allowed in cars, any of the Festival venues, Town of Mountain Village or the Town of Telluride.

Free public car parking at the base of Gondola, free Gondola ride to festival site, also to downtown Telluride.
Additionally:

  APPLICATION FEE of $40.00 is REQUIRED DURING SIGN UP AND IS NON REFUNDABLE.

* BOOTH FEES WILL BE COLLECTED UPON ACCEPTANCE INTO THE SHOW.

* BOOTH SPACE INCLUDES; SPACE UNDER THE TENT. (TABLE AND CHAIRS CAN BE RENTED FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE).

* EACH BOOTH RENTAL SPACE INCLUDES TWO (2) 4 FOUR DAY EXHIBITOR FESTIVAL PASSES.

* ALL EXHIBIT AREAS WILL BE OUTSIDE UNDER A FESTIVAL PROVIDED TENT.

* PLACEMENT OF ALL BOOTHS IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THE FESTIVAL VENDOR COORDINATOR.

* VENDOR MUST MEET ALL STATE/LOCAL LICENSE AND INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS. VENDORS WILL NEED A MOUNTAIN VILLAGE SPECIAL EVENT BUSINESS LICENSE ($25). Forms for this will be provided by the Festival and the Artist must fill it out and send it back to the Festival along with a check for the additional $25.

* ELECTRICITY IS CURRENTLY LIMITED AND NOT GUARANTEED. Use of lights is LED ONLY. Vendors may want to consider bringing an alternate power source if electricity is required. Also bring sturdy long cords and gaffers tape for tape down of cords

* PLEASE, ONLY PRO PANELS FOR DISPLAY.

MEDIUMS CATEGORIES:
Media categories are used to organize Artist images into logical, related groups for the Jury’s selection process.  While a primary event objective is to produce a balanced show with showcases of both works of fine art and fine crafts, and diversity among media types, the Cars & Colors Festival does not have quotas by media category.

Ceramics:  All original clay and porcelain work (other than jewelry).  No machine-made or mass produced work is permitted.  If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed, each piece must be signed.
 
Fiber: All work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry and papermaking.  This can be wearable or non-wearable.  No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production are permitted.  No factory produced wearable items, regardless of additional modification or enhancement by the artist may be exhibited.
 
Glass:  Functional or decorative which are kiln-formed, or crafted by glass blowing, molding, lampwork or casting.  Works may be etched or engraved.  No forms of mass production or alterations of prefabricated objects (such as pressed wine bottles) are allowed.  This excludes jewelry made from glass.

Jewelry:  All jewelry whether produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, plastic or other materials.

Mixed Media:  Usually three-dimensional work that incorporates more than one type of physical material.  Includes non-sculptural work at the discretion of the Artist.  Two-dimensional work should usually be submitted in the Two-Dimensional (2D) category.

Painting:  Works created in oils, acrylics, watercolors, etc.

Photography:  Photographic prints made from the Artist’s original image, which have been processed by that Artist, or under their direct supervision.  Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing processes.

Sculpture:  Three-dimensional original work created in any medium.

Two-Dimensional (2D): Flat artwork which may combine physical materials such as drawings, pastels, graphics, print making and digital art)

*Note:  Wood artists, please apply in Mixed Media or Sculpture.

NO Crafts or Commercial vendors will be accepted.


JURYING INFORMATION:
This competitive show is limited to approximately 40 exhibitors chosen by a jury of highly qualified, talented, experienced, 2D and 3D fine artists and craftspeople & gallery owners. All participants in the show will be chosen by this jury, which meets monthly starting the end of April. The Zapp site will be updated when categories and/or the show closes; WAIT LIST applications will then be accepted. Artists who will be called from the wait list will be chosen by category as cancellations are received and at that time can accept our decline our invitation to exhibit.

EXHIBITOR STANDARDS:
All work must be of original design and produced by the artist or a two-person collaboration. The work exhibited and booth must match the quality and style of work as represented in the submitted digital images.

ARTIST ATTENDANCE:
The artist/craftsperson whose work has been accepted MUST BE present for the duration of the show to meet our patrons. Both collaborating partners, if listed on this application, must be in attendance. Picture identification will be required.

The show is open rain, snow, or shine. Exhibitors should be prepared for inclement weather.
 
This show requires the full booth fees paid within 1-2 weeks of acceptance to the show. We  accept credit cards only for payment of booth/table fees. Please visit our website to access credit card authorization forms or contact our office. ( this information will be provided with your acceptance letter. If you are accepted into the show, the balance must be paid NO LATER than July 15th or a fifty dollar ($50) late fee will be applied to the balance.

DIGITAL IMAGES:
Applicants must submit four color digital images, via the ZAPP application. Four images must show individual pieces representative of current work. The fifth image must be of the display that will be used
at the show with the full range of work displayed.

SCHEDULE:

Jury Notifications will be emailed approximately 1 week after Zapp online application completed at each level.
Booth Fees Due: Deposit of $50.00 will be due immediately upon acceptance. Show fee balance is due no later than July 15th 2019
Booth Location Notification: Will be E-Mailed to Artists after the close of the Application deadline. Please note that complete show information will be posted at that time. You should read this very carefully as last minute logistical information or changes will be posted.

DURING SET UP/ TAKE DOWN:
We have limited space for vehicles on the plaza during set up. You will have to unload all items and remove vehicle promptly, then set up booth area. Same with take down, having all items ready for loading before vehicle is back on the plaza. We also do not have any forklifts you must bring your own hand dollies for large items.
Please contact us on any size limitations as far as Vehicles are concerned. We will provide load in information when accepted and booth assignments are made.

Rules/Regulations

EVENT RULES & REGULATIONS
  • Artists agree to comply with all Cars & Colors guidelines set forth in this application and all appropriate local, state and federal rules.
  • Participating artists must be present to personally represent their work for the duration of the festival. Representatives may not attend in place of the artist.
  • Exhibited art must be original, handcrafted work; no more than 15% can be reproductions. Prints and reproductions must be labeled as such.
  • Commercial, mass-produced, or manufactured work, imports, and resale items are not allowed.
  • Collaborators, or individuals who participate in the creative process should be listed as co-creators or second artists on booth signs and other collateral.
  • Artists are responsible for submitting appropriate sales tax license info and respective payments to the State of Colorado and the City of Mountain Village in a timely manner.  Failure to do so can jeopardize the opportunity to participate in future festivals.
  • The Cars & Colors staff reserve the right to make decisions regarding the best interests of the event relating to, but not limited to artist selections, booth assignments, Artist booth operations and methods of such.
  • Exhibitors will leave their exhibit space clean after packing up at break down. If your space is not clean after an event, you may be expelled from future shows.
  • The none refundable $40 Application fee (APF) must be paid at the time of applying.
REFUNDS/CANCELLATIONS:
Cancellation requests must be made in writing by E-Mail  If received by Friday, July 10th, 2019, a full refund will be made.  No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received after July10th, 2019. The $40 application fee is non-refundable. We understand that there are many unforeseen circumstances that may arise last minute, however, we cannot make exceptions to this policy.

 


Booth Information
Booth spaces are approximately 10' wide by 10' deep. Double booths are also available on a limited basis. Displays must be professional and aesthetically pleasing. The goal is to make your tent look like a “mini” art gallery. You may use small covered tables to conceal any packing items etc. (Storage space is minimum at best). When setting up please remove any and all unwanted items off site. Handwritten signs and sale signs are prohibited. Our tents will be 20' x 60' 10' x 40' etc.  Artists will be backed up together in larger tents, and patrons will walk around the outside of tents. Except for 10 X 40's they will have one side the back side closed, ends open.
 
If invited, your booth display at the event should match the booth display picture that was submitted with your Zapp application. There are no exceptions to this rule. If you have any display changes prior to the festival, you must resubmit your booth image for approval.
