Event Summary

Join us and 10,000+ patrons for the 14th Eco-Creative Moss Rock Festival, November 2-3, situated among the peak fall foliage at The Preserve in Hoover, Alabama. Visitors to MRF enjoy and purchase works of Art +Design depicting or inspired by nature or made from natural or recycled materials, along with functional design, products, and tech by makers, designer, engineers, and upcyclers, in addition to fine art and fine crafts representing other content and influences. Exploring creative inspiration from Nature, SmartLIVING, Art +Design makes this festival an original, with an active loyal and growing base of corporate and individual supporters in one of Alabama's fastest growing cities. Come join the exciting Eco-Creative Moss Rock Festival experience!

FEES - Early Bird DUE by JULY 15, 2019 | Jury 2 DUE by SEPT 13, 2019 ***Fees paid after the respective due date will need to be processed by phone or mailed check to the MRF office. Call or email the Artist Coordinator to make a late payment arrangement at 205-595-6306 or artistcoordinator@findartbirmingham.com. Fees not paid by August 1, 2019 for Early Bird applicants and October 1 for Jury 2 applicants will result in loss of placement at the Festival.
 
WAITLIST
Waitlist candidates will be ranked by juried score and medium. Notifications will be made by e-mail as spaces become available.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Artist Coordinator at artistcoordinator@findartbirmingham.com
80% - Receipt by August 15, 2019
50% - Receipt by September 15, 2019

SITE REQUESTS
All site requests are considered, but not guaranteed. Our policy for honoring special site requests: medical reasons; physical limitations; heavy or cumbersome artwork; artists traveling together. If you DO NOT want to be placed in a previous year site location, please let us know upon acceptance.

SET-UP
Friday, November 1, 2019
Artists and Exhibitors are given a designated 1.5 hour time slot between 8:30am and 4:00pm to unload at their Booth location. Use of nearby, free parking is available thereafter to park and return to set-up if necessary.
Load-in time request should be sent to artistcoordinator@findartbirmingham.com upon acceptance. Load-in time slot requests are given on basis of geography, health concerns, work, and dependents, and are not guaranteed accommodation.
 
PRE-FESTIVAL INFO
Pre-festival Memo with - site placement - directions - parking passes - load-in and load-out times and instructions - hospitality - etc. will be emailed to you by October 1. Artist can expect to see themselves on the festival website beginning as early as August and in our social media campaign beginning as early as September. 
 
SALES & TAXES
Each artist is responsible for own sales tax. Transactions must include 9.5% sales tax. Business License not required. MRF requires artists to turn in sales tax by 3 separate checks in provided envelopes during Sunday Check Out. Artists without checks pay taxes with a credit card with an additional 5% processing/service fee.

There will be 24 hour security for the Festival beginning 6pm Friday, November 1 until 10pm Sunday, November 3.

SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Collaborating Artists
Collaborating artists/designers is defined as a group of two or more people working together on any one artwork or product. If applying as collaborating artists and/or designers, it is regarded as one joint entry. If accepted, they may exhibit only that work or product which is created by collaboration.

Multiple Categories
If an artist/designer wishes to apply in more than one category, mark all categories on the application and include a set of images for each category. Only one jury fee is required for applying in multiple categories. Artists/designers may not apply twice in the same category.
 
Multiple Artists/Designers (up to 3)
Up to three artists/designers may apply to exhibit together, but must apply via direct APPLICATION to the MRF office. Each artist/designer must apply separately and include the name(s) of co-exhibitors on the application form.


NATURE | SmartLIVING | Sweetery Exhibitors should apply via direct APPLICATION to the MRF office as this ZAPPlication is only for Artists & Designers.
Nature: appreciation and enjoyment of nature through outdoor activities & gear, travel, parks, sustainability, and preservation.
SmartLIVING Market: consumables and other products in the following catagories; food, home, body, health, design, and tech.
Sweetery: local chefs, caterers, and specialty bakers showcasing confections and baked goods for tasting and purchase.
 

Rules/Regulations
ELIGIBILITY
Open to all artists and designers 18 years or older. Exhibitors are chosen for participation by a selection committee. The committee reserves the right to review, and approve or refuse, all works and products presented for consideration.
 
ARTIST/EXHIBITOR RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Artist, designer or agent MUST be present during Moss Rock Festival hours both days of the event. MRF reserves the right to close down or remove any booth in which the artist/exhibitor or agent is not present. Failure to follow this rule makes the artist/exhibitor ineligible for future shows.
2. All artists/exhibitors are required to check in at the Exhibitor Check-In on Friday, November 1.
3. All artwork/products must be the artist’s or designer’s original work, no representations, and all work must be available for sale.
4. Artists/exhibitors may exhibit artwork/products only in the category in which he/she was accepted.
5. All two-dimensional work must be framed, matted or stretched.
6. Photographers and Digital artists may only sell signed and numbered works of limited editions of 250 or less.
7. Artists/exhibitors who break down displays or depart before closing time on any day of Festival will not be allowed to return the following day or to future shows unless proof of an emergency is presented.
8. A site qualifying committee will examine each booth and may question artists/exhibitors about the authenticity of artwork and/or products to ensure that all items are original and made by the artist/exhibitor present, and that the rules and conditions of Moss Rock Festival are adhered to by each participating artist/exhibitor.
 
REPRODUCTION POLICY
If a work of art already exists (as a painting, watercolor, drawing, photograph, etc.) and is copied by digital or photographic means and printed on an offset press, serigraph press, or through a computer by means of an ink jet, electrostatic, or 3D printer, this would be a reproduction. This includes Giclees. Commercial reproductions of the artist’s original work ARE acceptable ONLY if displayed in a portfolio or bin and clearly labeled, “Reproduction, not a limited edition print.” Any reproductions may not exceed 30% of the work offered for sale. The Selection Committee reserves the right to review and approve all works to be exhibited.
 
UNACCEPTABLE WORK
Commercially-manufactured items or items made from commercial kits or molds may NOT be exhibited.

DISPLAY & PRESENTATION
Artists/exhibitors are responsible for their own display which must be substantial enough to withstand weather and crowds. Each artist/exhibitor is responsible for their own work and display in case of loss or damage.
All 2D work should be appropriately prepared for display. Items not framed (watercolors, drawings, graphics, photographs, prints, et al) must be displayed in a portfolio or hung using an professional display alternative.

RAIN OR SHINE
The event does not close during intermittent rain, unless the weather pattern suggests severe weather. Come prepared for rain or shine.

Any breach of these Rules/Regulations forfeits all rights of the artist/exhibitor, and will result in immediate removal from the show without a refund.
